"We can't do without the paper," writes Mr. W. H. Jones, of Fillmore, Sask., in renewing his subscription. Mrs. J. T. Wood and daughter, Mrs. Wm. Melville, returned hone Saturday after spending several days in Toronto. Rev. E. Sheppard and Mr, R. E. Pickard are in Clinton to -day (Wed- nesday) attending a meeting of Hur- on Presbytery. Mr. M. R. Complin and son Chas. were in London Monday visiting with a brother of Mr. Complin who is down from the West, resident of Egmondville, died re- cently following a stroke of paraly- sis. He was in his 74th year. Miss Esther Horney, who has been visiting her niece, Mrs. Davis, in To- ronto, returned Saturday and will visit her sister, Mrs. Spencer. Mr. Kenneth Stanbury and Miss Evelyn Howard of Western Univers- ity spent the week -end at home hav- ing completed their mid -winter ex- aminations. Mr. Wm. Mitchell, who has been visitingher sister in Port Huron, has returned home. Mrs. Mitchell's sister visited her for several days and Mrs. Mitchell returned with her to Port Huron on a visit. Mrs. Wm. Carrick, of the Lake Road was taken to Victoria Hospital London, on Tuesday of last week where she underwent an operation for appendicitis. The operation was successful and Mrs. Carrick is im- proving nicely. Mr. J. T. Allison of the Thames Road suffered a dislocated shoulder Sunday evening when he was thrown from a cutter which upset when passing a snow- bank. Mrs. Allison was also thrown out and was bruised a little on the head. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hodgins, of Lucan, .(nee Lila Sanders) were the host and hostess recently when they entertained at a delightful' euchre party, four tables being in play. Prizes were won by Miss Milia Cul- bert and Mr. Phxneas' Dickens, the consolation present to,, Mrs. Fred. Armitage. Afterwards a dainty lunch was served, Miss Willa Culbert assisted the hostess in the tea room.
