"We find the best way to
fight the stigma of mental
health is to be open and
honest about it," he said,
adding the building is a high
profile historic site that
would help the association
do that.
The building will be used
as a satellite office for the
association while
maintaining its headquarters
in Stamford.
The six existing
apartments in the house will,
continue to be rented to
tenants including clients of
the association.
He told council having the
Seaforth location gives the
association a more central
location which they hope
will help raise their profile
and attract more volunteers.
Robertson has plans to
seek $60,000 to $75,000 in
Trillium Foundation funding
to help restore and improve
the historical building and

will also look to local fund
raising for the project.
Robertson is planning a
public meeting May 30 at
Home and Hearth Bed and
Breakfast in Seaforth to
discuss plans for the historic
home and to seek feedback
and support for work on the
Trillium Foundation
application and making sure
the home maintains its true
historik appearance.
The meeting will take
place from 7 p.m. to 8:30
p.m. and anyone is welcome
to attend to learn more about
the project.
The sale of the home to the
Canadian Mental Health
Association will go through
if the rezoning application is
successful.
Robertson said last week
there had not been any
objections to the proposal at
the time.
