April 11, 2001 Correspondents Minor hockey plans annual meeting for Apr. 18 Senior shuffleboard is held at the Seaforth and District Community Centres each Wednesday from 1:30-4 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy an afternoon of fun and fellowship. Last week's winners were: Ladies: Helen MacKenzie - 331, Velma Preszcator - 249, Helen Scott and Ruth Gareau - 213. Men: Lee Gareau - 304, Cyril Cross - 271 and Ken Preszcator - 257. Fitness Classes Fitness is Fun spring classes will begin during the week of April 17. Drusilla Leitch will once again instruct the morning classes on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9- 10 a.m. Drusilla will also instruct line dancing if enough interest is shown. Evening fitness classes with Kae Hubberts will be offered on Mondays from 7:30-8:30 p.m., Wednesdays from 7-8 p.m. or Thursdays from 7-8 p.m. all at the Seaforth and District Community Centres. Registration fee for all fitness classes will be $40 for once per week, $70 for twice per week or $95 for threetimes per week. For anyone wishing to pay weekly, the fee will be $5 per night. Minor Hockey Annual Meeting The Seaforth and District Minor Hockey Association would like to invite all minor hockey parents to their annual meeting on Wednesday, April 18 at 7 p.m. at the Seaforth and District Community Centres. Minor hockey will be looking for new ideas, suggestions for future years and new executive members. Come out and support minor hockey and keep it a strong organization for years to come. Senior Games The Seaforth Senior Games local events will begin on Tuesday, April 24 with six -handed bid euchre at the Seaforth and District Community Centres at 1:30 pm. Watch the Community Calendar and this column for future game dates and times. If you missed the minor ball, minor soccer and roller hockey registration, you still have a little time to get signed up. Ladies from St. Vincent de Paul, Mitchell, St. Brigid's, Logan, and St. Patrick's, Kinkora attended. After enjoying the meal, they watched a videotape from the fun night in Mitchell. Jack and Denise and the Kelly family, Stratford and district were at "Aunt Nora's" 90th birthday "Open House" at Brussels Nursing Home also on Sunday. W.I. holds directors' meeting Huron South Women's Institute District Directors Spring Huron South Women's Institute Board meeting was held at Hensall on April 3. The ROSE Program (Rural Ontario Sharing Education) will be presented to all Huron South residents in the Fall of 2001. Several important health matters and facts will be available to those that attend this worthwhile function. At Carmel Presbyterian Church Dorothy Taylor was the organist. Rev Roeland Hartmans conducted the Communion Service. Al Hoggarth and Harry Smith received the offering. Kathy Bell gave the Easter Reading. On Palm Sunday the service will be an impromptu skit geared towards children. The church luncheon will be held on April 10 from 11:15 a.rh. to 1 p.m. Tickets are available from Marlene at 263-6349. Spring has returned to Hensall and the Hensall and District Horticultural Society will hold the first meeting of the season on April 18. President Luanne Phair will chair the meeting at Hensall United Church. Guest speaker Tom Dunbar from Goderich is a wildlife biologist consultant. Dorothy Corbett was the greeter with Joanne Moir and daughter Sherry - Lynn as ushers. Elaine Corbett and Joanne Moir received the offering. The District Annual meeting will be held at Thames Road United Church on May 17 at 6:45 p.m. hosted by Elimville Branch. The District Picnic is on July 3 at Port Blake Conservation Area hosted by Grand Bend Branch. The Huron South District Women's Institute Fair display "Salute to Volunteers" was distributed.
