Cecilia Ryan gets
papal blessing
for 71th.birthday
St. Columban
The family of Cecilia Ryan
gathered for a day of
celebration in honour of her
seventy-fifth birthday on
Sunday. After
attending Mass at St.
James Church as a
family, they hosted
an Open House
celebration held at
the Seaforth
Agriplex. Flowers,
food, family pictures
and music provided a
wonderful
atmosphere as family
members, relatives,
neighbours and
friends spent the
afternoon visiting and
renewing acquaintances.
Cecilia was also honoured
with a Papal Blessing from
Pope John Paul II and a
song called "Cee's Song,"
written especially for her by
a fami:y member. Visiting
with Cecilia were her family
from near and far: Marg and
J.D. MacRae, Jenny and
fiance, Matt and Ian,
London; Laura and Les
Ward, Kitchener; Pat and
Jim Subject, Carrie, Ryan
and Darcelle, Nathan and
Jeff, Kitchener; Don and
Brenda, Matt, Steven and
Carrie, David and Angela,
London; Helen and Brad
Gordon, Moose Jaw,

Karena Warren, Austin,
Abby and Johnny, Moose

John Nelson, Zach and Ben,
Lucknow; Mark Ryan and
daughter, Meg, Kitchener.
The St. Columban Parish
family welcomes with love,
Natasha Marisa Klaver,
daughter of Casey and Sofic
Klaver, little sister to
Samantha, Veronica, Danica
and Miranda. Natasha was
baptized by Father Tony
Daniels in a ceremony
following Mass on Sunday.
Leon and Mary Maloney arc
her godparents. Many
relatives and friends
including her grandmother,
Elizabeth Klaver, witnessed
the occasion as the
symbols of oil,
water, candle and
white garment were
explained by Father
Daniels. A social
gathering of family
and friends at the
Klaver home
following the
ceremony
celebrated the
occasion.
Family
members, relatives,
neighbours and friends
gathered at the St.
Columban Parish Hall to
honour Renee Jekl, London,
with a bridal shower to
celebrate her upcoming
wedding to Sean Melady.
Sean is the son of Nancy
O'Reilly and Brian Melady
Sr. Meghan, Colleen and
Bridget O'Reilly and Sandra
and Debbie Melady hosted
the celebration. Gift opening
and visiting provided a great
get-together for everyone.
Sean and Renee will be
married April 6 in Las
Vegas.
Brad Murray and fellow
teammates of the St.
Michael Warriors basketball
team arrived home from
Timmins after participating
in the Ontario AA basketball
championships. Brad and
teammates picked up the
OFSAA bronze medal with
their 59-44 victory over
number two ranked La Salle
Sandwich Sabres.
The students at St.
Columban School survived a
week in which they received
their report cards and parent
interviews. The school
celebrated last week with a
"Green Day" in anticipation
of St. Patrick's Day.
Everyone was invited to
wear green. The Grade 4
class won the prize for
having the most people
dressed in green.
