Game4 Seaforth 1 Wingham 2 Correspondents Cecilia Ryan gets papal blessing for 71th.birthday St. Columban The family of Cecilia Ryan gathered for a day of celebration in honour of her seventy-fifth birthday on Sunday. After attending Mass at St. James Church as a family, they hosted an Open House celebration held at the Seaforth Agriplex. Flowers, food, family pictures and music provided a wonderful atmosphere as family members, relatives, neighbours and friends spent the afternoon visiting and renewing acquaintances. Cecilia was also honoured with a Papal Blessing from Pope John Paul II and a song called "Cee's Song," written especially for her by a fami:y member. Visiting with Cecilia were her family from near and far: Marg and J.D. MacRae, Jenny and fiance, Matt and Ian, London; Laura and Les Ward, Kitchener; Pat and Jim Subject, Carrie, Ryan and Darcelle, Nathan and Jeff, Kitchener; Don and Brenda, Matt, Steven and Carrie, David and Angela, London; Helen and Brad Gordon, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; Michael and Karena Warren, Austin, Abby and Johnny, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; Gerry and Karen Ryan, Jason,. The St. Columban Parish family welcomes with love, Natasha Marisa Klaver, daughter of Casey and Sofic Klaver, little sister to Samantha, Veronica, Danica and Miranda. Natasha was baptized by Father Tony Daniels in a ceremony following Mass on Sunday. Leon and Mary Maloney arc her godparents. Many relatives and friends including her grandmother, Elizabeth Klaver, witnessed the occasion as the symbols of oil, water, candle and white garment were explained by Father Daniels. A social gathering of family and friends at the Klaver home following the ceremony celebrated the occasion. Family members, relatives, neighbours and friends gathered at the St. Columban Parish Hall to honour Renee Jekl, London, with a bridal shower to celebrate her upcoming wedding to Sean Melady. Sean is the son of Nancy O'Reilly and Brian Melady Sr. Meghan, Colleen and Bridget O'Reilly and Sandra and Debbie Melady hosted the celebration. Gift opening and visiting provided a great get-together for everyone. Sean and Renee will be married April 6 in Las Vegas. Brad Murray and fellow teammates of the St. Michael Warriors basketball team arrived home from Timmins after participating in the Ontario AA basketball championships. Brad and teammates picked up the OFSAA bronze medal with their 59-44 victory over number two ranked La Salle Sandwich Sabres. The students at St. Columban School survived a week in which they received their report cards and parent interviews. The school celebrated last week with a "Green Day" in anticipation of St. Patrick's Day. Everyone was invited to wear green. The Grade 4 class won the prize for having the most people dressed in green. By 3 Mary C.
