On March 11, eight mernbers of the branch went to the Zone CI convention in Gorrie. Elected as Zone CI Commander was Bob Grey and as Deputy Zone Commander, Shirley Chalmers, both by acclamation. Thursday, March 15 at 8 p.m. the general meeting will Seaforth Legion News be held with nominations for the officers for the coming year. Come out and ensure a good slate of officers. Friday, March 16 at 4:30 p.m. Irish stew will be the menu. On Saturday, March 17 a St. Patrick's Night will be held with corned beef and cabbage from 4:30- 6 p.m., horse races and entertainment by Melady's Melodies. Tickets are now on sale at the Branch for the Duck Race on May 26. Get yours early. At the March Ladies' Auxiliary meeting, Marg Ungarian was presented with a life membership by Honours and Awards Chairman Thelma Coombs. On Apr. 1, the Ladies' Auxiliary will be attending an information day at Durham. Seaforth Cooperative Children's Centre One visit to the Seaforth Co -Operative Children's Centre and you will know that those words are true. You will always find lots of smiling faces, laughter and opportunities for child interactions. As you look around you will see children participating at the craft table -- parents and early childhood educators lending a hand with glue sticks and paint, or on the floor helping to build a fabulous building with blocks. There will be interesting creations being formed at the play dough table and let's not forget the interactive lego table. On a regular basis, the large climber gets turned into a palace where there are Kings and Queens. dragons and many other characters from never never land. At times you will not be able to tell who is having more fun -- the adults or the children, but that is what it is all about; positive relationship building. It may just look like a "play time" but there is a great deal of learning going on. Children are presented with opportunities for hand coordination, social skills, language opportunities, classification, counting, it's all there. Leaming has never been more fun. The Seaforth Co -Operative Children's Centre is well positioned to support children in our community; thereby strengthening families and building a child and family friendly community. It's one more reason why Seaforth is a great community to raise children. Shirley Brooker Director encouraged to attend. The Auxiliary meeting on April 4 will be preceded by a pot luck supper at 6:30 p.m. This is the Auxiliary's 49th anniversary. All members are asked to come out and enjoy the comradeship. The branch and auxiliary were saddened to hear of the death of Wesley Coombs. A Legion service was conducted by President Branch 156 Eva Brown last Friday evening. To his wife. family and friends we extend our sympathy. They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn them. At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them.
