have been held in
the St. Columban
St. Columban

February have been such a
tremendous success that they have
continued for a few additional
Monday afternoons. As many as 20
musicians playing fiddles, guitars,
pianos, banjo and accordion have
made music which is being enjoyed
by the many people who have
participated.
The grand finale will be Monday,
March 12 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. It
will, of course, have a St. Patrick's
Day theme. For more information,
contact Tom Melady.
Julianne Ryan has returned home
from a visit to her brother, Joe and Paula

visited with
Gary and Ann
Cronin, Brent,
Melanie and Kevin. They had a
birthday celebration for Kevin,
who has been around with us for
nine years even though he is
officially only two and a quarter
years old.
The students at St. Columban
School started off the Lenten
season with mass celebrated at St.
Patrick's in Dublin on Ash
Wednesday. The Grade 2 and Grade
5 classes did the readings. The
music for the celebration was
provided by Mr. Brennan and Dave
Lang, who played guitars. The
Student's Council had a "Hot
Chocolate Day" during which hot
chocolate was sold to raise funds for
activities at the school.
Curling and hockey were again held for
the students who hadn't yet had the
chance to participate in these sports.

Residents enjoying
blooming bulbs
Maplewood Manor Nursing Home
The month of February had Wiarton Willie, along with
residents of Maplewood Manor casting their shadows for
two very interesting contests. Martha Van Bakel won the
groundhog contest and Ruth Wallace was able to identify
the most resident shadows in the "Who's Who" contest.
It would appear that spring has sprung at Maplewood as
• resident enjoyed the beautiful blooms of their hyacinth and
tulip bulbs that had been planted last fall during our
horticulture classes. thc amaryllis bulbs donated by Stewart
Acres are also out in full bloom for everyone to enjoy.
Residents enjoyed thc afternoons in St. Columban
listening and dancing to thc entertainment of the "Musical
Monday" program organized by Tom Melady.
Church services for the month were held with Rev.,
Vandcrmcy, Rob Hulley and Rev. Macgregor who also led
in bible study with residents.
Tunes on thc piano arc always enjoyed when Marian
Rose and Bill Gibson visit.
Our Valentine's Day celebrations began with a wonderful
afternoon of music with the Huron Strings. The dining
room was specially decorated complete with table favors
from the Presbyterian Friend9hip Circle.
After Ed Andrews and Marian MacLean were crowned
King and Queen of the day, residents were serenaded by a
quartet from thc Harmony Kings. Valentine cupcakes were
served following an afternoon of fun and games.
Other activities with our volunteers included manicures,
crokinole, bingo, euchre and shuffleboard. Craft classes
have been husy preparing for our Easter penny sale which
will be held March 21 to April 4.
