Clint Wulf photos Volunteers needed to help organize this year's Seaforth Senior Games Senior shuffleboard is held at the Seaforth and District Community Centres each Wednesday from 1:30-4 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy an afternoon of fun and fellowship. Last week's winners were: Ladies: Kathie Tippelt - 415, Helen Scott - 322, and Beth Pryce - 283. Men: Ken Preszcator - 438, Jack Desrochers - 366 and Art Scott - 282. Senior Games Meeting The Seaforth Senior Games Committee would like to invite any interested people to a meeting on Tuesday, March 13 at 1 p.m. at the Seaforth and District Community Centres. We are looking for volunteers to help organize and run the local games during April and May. Any help whatsoever would be appreciated. If you would like more information on the Senior Games please contact Marty at the Huron East Recreation Department (Seaforth Community Centre) 527- 1272. March Break Program The Seaforth Co-operative Children's Centre will be hosting a fun -filled March Break Program (March 12- 16) for children of all ages. Children can enjoy swimming, bowling, crafts, St. Patrick's Day activities, music with Laurie Ladd and much more. School-age children are $15 per day and preschool children are be $22 per day. Free Public Skating The Seaforth and District Community Centres will be hosting free public skating during the March Break, sponsored by local businesses and organizations, from 1-3 p.m. No skating will be held on Sunday, March 18 due to the Knights of Columbus Hockey Tournament. Music Mondaysgrand finale planned for March z2 The "Music Mondays" which have been held in the St. Columban St. Columban Hall for the Monday afternoons in February have been such a tremendous success that they have continued for a few additional Monday afternoons. As many as 20 musicians playing fiddles, guitars, pianos, banjo and accordion have made music which is being enjoyed by the many people who have participated. The grand finale will be Monday, March 12 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. It will, of course, have a St. Patrick's Day theme. For more information, contact Tom Melady. Julianne Ryan has returned home from a visit to her brother, Joe and Paula Ryan, Brent, Megan and Erin in Winnipeg. She reports that the weather was extremely cold with temperatures at -30C., dipping to -40C with the wind chill. John and Mary Janmaat of Seaforth and Jamie, By Mary C. Ryan 345-2560 Frank Cronin visited with Gary and Ann Cronin, Brent, Melanie and Kevin. They had a birthday celebration for Kevin, who has been around with us for nine years even though he is officially only two and a quarter years old. The students at St. Columban School started off the Lenten season with mass celebrated at St. Patrick's in Dublin on Ash Wednesday. The Grade 2 and Grade 5 classes did the readings. The music for the celebration was provided by Mr. Brennan and Dave Lang, who played guitars. The Student's Council had a "Hot Chocolate Day" during which hot chocolate was sold to raise funds for activities at the school. Curling and hockey were again held for the students who hadn't yet had the chance to participate in these sports. a Residents enjoying blooming bulbs Maplewood Manor Nursing Home The month of February had Wiarton Willie, along with residents of Maplewood Manor casting their shadows for two very interesting contests. Martha Van Bakel won the groundhog contest and Ruth Wallace was able to identify the most resident shadows in the "Who's Who" contest. It would appear that spring has sprung at Maplewood as • resident enjoyed the beautiful blooms of their hyacinth and tulip bulbs that had been planted last fall during our horticulture classes. thc amaryllis bulbs donated by Stewart Acres are also out in full bloom for everyone to enjoy. Residents enjoyed thc afternoons in St. Columban listening and dancing to thc entertainment of the "Musical Monday" program organized by Tom Melady. Church services for the month were held with Rev., Vandcrmcy, Rob Hulley and Rev. Macgregor who also led in bible study with residents. Tunes on thc piano arc always enjoyed when Marian Rose and Bill Gibson visit. Our Valentine's Day celebrations began with a wonderful afternoon of music with the Huron Strings. The dining room was specially decorated complete with table favors from the Presbyterian Friend9hip Circle. After Ed Andrews and Marian MacLean were crowned King and Queen of the day, residents were serenaded by a quartet from thc Harmony Kings. Valentine cupcakes were served following an afternoon of fun and games. Other activities with our volunteers included manicures, crokinole, bingo, euchre and shuffleboard. Craft classes have been husy preparing for our Easter penny sale which will be held March 21 to April 4.
