THOUGHT FOR TODAY The first thing some people do in the morning is brush their teeth and sharpen their tongue! Monday bingo continues despite recent closure to public Fun and Fitness each morning helps keep Queensway Nursing Home residents flexible as they work through the routines to stretch and move each joint. Following the exercises there is always a quiz time to give the brain a workout as well. Due to our brief closure to the public, Kippen UCW were unable to visit for the Monday afternoon bingo, but because of popular demand, prizes were purchased and staff held bingo in the dining room on nursing home level and following that in retirement home lounge for retirement residents. Tuesday noon, Mary Keys and Ruby Triehner travelled with staff to the Exeter Dining for Seniors program where Queensway donated dessert and a door prize. This is done once each month for various Dining for Seniors Programs and residents enjoy the outings to see old friends. Lay Pastor Patricia Dobbs of Trivets Memorial Anglican Church in Exeter led the worship service Tuesday afternoon with Belva Fuss providing special music and accompaniment for the singing of hymns. Eight retirement home residents met for breakfast group Wednesday morning over cheese omelet, crispy bacon, tomatoes, honeydew melon, grapes, toast and coffee. Volunteer Betty Simmons assisted while residents helped themselves employing the "boarding house" reach for the family style meal. Marg Cole visited in the afternoon for euchre with a group of residents who wiled away the afternoon playing their favourite game. The Nashille Rejects entertained Thursday afternoon with a full repertoire of music. Most requested songs continue to be "The Grandfather Clock" and "Out Behind the Barn." Elgin Fisher, Bob McClinchey and Bob Mann are real crowd pleasers and residents look forward to their shows every other month. Friendship Friday entertainment in the retirement home lounge was Clare Masse, Andy Rau and Bob Gilmore. After a few Friendship Friday cancellations due to terrible weather, residents were thrilled to have their Friday evening program back. Coming events: Mar. 8, 6 p.m. Senior Diners 7 p.m.; visiting and cards. 16, 7 p.m. Friendship Friday with Harold Black and Marie Flynn. 17, 2 p.m. St. Patrick's party with Staffa Dance Band.
