Recently widowed, I'm noticing some of my women friends act 'funny' when I'm around them and their husbands. How could i be a threat? This really hurts my feelings. A. There are many reasons for these feelings. Sometimes, it is because they are insecure in their own marriages, but often it's because they see you as a widow now and worry about how they will survive a loss like yours. You represent something they'd rather not think about. Spend more time with those who support you and make new friends among those who also have been widowed. He holds your hand when you take those first steps. Puts you on his shoulders so you can see the world better, Encourages you to take that first leap into the pool, And helps you write your first speech. He teaches you the most important lessons of life, A Dad is the first voice you hear coming from the stands. The first thumbs up as you try your hardest. He is the best role model. He gives hope, he gives joy and most of all he gives you courage. A Dad is proud of you no matter what. He just loves that he's a Dad to someone. He looks after you and looks out for you. And now he looks over me. Still teaching me. Still in the stands, anti I'm still on his shoulders, Because I can see the world better from up here. My Dad was there from the beginning. He will be there right beside me, for the rest of my life, in my memories and in my dreams. A Dad is someone who is special no matter, who he is, or where he is, Even if it's in heaven. Love: Kate Remembered always, Sharon, Robyn, Jill, Jared and Kate VAN STEELANDT, Andrea: In lov- ing memory of a dear wife, mother and grandmother, Andrea, who passed away February 11, 1999. Silent memories keep you near, As time unfolds another year. No longer in my live to share, But in my heart she will always be. So deeply she is missed along my way, And lovingly remembered every day. - Always loved and sadly missed by your husband, George, and fami- lies. 46-07x1 VAN DYK: In loving memory of Ted Van Dyk, a dear Dad and Grandpa, who passed away suddenly 22 years ago, February 16, 1979. The heart is like a treasure chest, That's filled with souvenirs, It's there we keep the memories, We gathered through the years. We cannot lose the ones we love, For they will always stay, In all that's bright and beautiful, Around us every day. Always in our hearts and lovingly remembered by Marg and Kevin, Jason, Kyle, Bradley, Michelle, James and Alexis 46-07x1 47 Cards of Thanks CAIRNS I would like to thank my family, neighbours and friends for the flow- ers, gifts and cards while I was a patient in Stratford Hospital. Also to Dr. Gonser and staff. God bless. - Jean Caims 47-07x1 MALONEY-FADDEN I'd like to thank all of the people who have helped in any way during the crisis with Brodie Fadden -Brown, my grandboy. Special thanks to Ray and Eleanor Maloney, Jerry Murray, Elaine Regan, Jean McLaughlin - Keane and Leonard Maloney. "Prayers can't be answered unless they are prayed." I'll never forget Jerry at Dave and Liette's wedding saying °More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of." So when the crisis comes I send off a note to Jerry to storm the Heavens. Brodie isn't out of the woods yet. But there is hope now. Thanks 1,000,000. - Sincerely, Bea Maloney -Fadden. P.S. How could I have forgotten to thank Rosemary Flannery-Corriveau and Aunt Agnes Murray and Larry Murray. In Larry's simple, beautiful thank you note he sent last week he said Mom always helped us here so there's no reason she won't still be helping us from where she is. How true! Anne Murray mentioned at Aunt Agnes' wake, 'Well now we have someone else to put in a word for. (Thank goodness we're worthy ay, Ray). - Larry's letter/note reminded me of what Aunt Millie said at my mother's wake. 'She wasn't able to raise you here -- but she'N be raising you from where she is. How true, ay? Truth is stranger than fiction. Truth is the perfect disguise. 47-07-1 NIGH I would like to express my sincere thanks for the 75th birthday party that my family and Mends held for me.
