Brooks, suffered one of his old spells on Thanksgiving Day and is confined to his bed. Dr. and Mrs. E. S. Steiner and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Harness spent Tues- day afternoon in London. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Wanless, of London spent Sunday and Monday with Mrs. C. A. Southcott, Main St. Sunday School have de- cided to hold their Christmas enter- tainment on December.22nd. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Welsh and Mrs. Beverly, spent Thanksgiving with friends in Mt. Brydges. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Clark, Euc- lid Ave., Loudon, spent Thanksgiv- ing with Mr. and Mrs. Jno.. Hind. Miss Eacrett and Mr. Lionel Martin, of Toronto, are visiting. with Mr. and Mrs. B. W. F. Beavers. Messrs. Verne Roulston and Geo.' Beavers were in London Thanks- ving enjoying a skate at the arena. Messrs Harold Kuntz and Ernest Wells, of Windsor, motored up and spent the holiday with their parents. Mrs. Barr and her son James, of Stratford, formerly of Exeter, visit- ed old friends here on Thanksgiving Day. Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Prebble, of Ild- erton; Mrs. Hamilton and daughter Agnes, spent Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs, Wm. Hamilton, at Cromar- ty Mr. and Mrs. B. W. F. Beavers, spent Thanksgiving with the form - and son Reg, spent, Thanksgiving with the former's mother near St. Marys. Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Smith and two daughters, Leila and Mary, of Strathroy, spent Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hunter, of Us - borne. Mrs. W. J. Chappell, of Dundas, returned to her home Tuesday after visiting for a week in town with her mother, Mrs. H. Reynolds, who has been quite ill. Messrs. Gibbs Yelland, of Wind- sor, and Samson, of Pt. Perry, spent Thanksgiving with their mother, Mrs J. G. Yelland. The latter is confin- ed to her bed through illness. During Saturday night a thief gained entrance to Mr. John Taylor's Vulcanizing Shop by unlocking the front door and breaking intothe till stop; several dollars in silver. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Heideman, of Toronto, motored up and spent Sun- day with the former'a parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Heideman. Mr. and Mrs. Heideman returned with them to Toronto. Mrs. Nelson Vale and two children spent Thanksgiving in St. Marys with her, brother, Mr. Fred Hammond who had just returned from Strat- ford hospital where he had had been suffering with blood poison in his' arm. The weather for Thanksgiving Sunday was anything but pleasant the day being cold and stormy. On Monday it brightened up. The holi- day was spent very quietly in town,, there being quite a number of vis- itors. Mr. Ed Short, employee of Mes- srs. Jones & May, while attending to some of his home duties last Sunday collapsed from the effects of a stroke of paralysis. As a result he is now confinedto his bed in a rather ser - ions condition. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Folland and daughter, Miss Margaret and son Clarence, of Royal Oak,, Mich., mo- tored over and spent Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Bowden, of Centralia. They also called on old' friends -in Exeter. Rev. G. Weir, of Ripley, occupied the pulpit of the Main St, United church on Sunday 3'` n a and delivered two very inspiring sermons ,in the ab sense of the pastor, Rev. F. E. Clys- stale, 'who conducted anniversary services at Ilolyrood on the Ripley circuit. Messrs.. C. C Pilon and W. Mr. Harry Nelson, who has spent the harvest season in the west, re- turned home last Thursday. King coal in New York is at pre- sent time selling at $22.50 a ton, while in several of the Canadian cities at $19.50 to $20.00, with pros- pects of the price going higher. Mr. S. D. Croft, of Durham, has been appointed the new C. N. R. station agent at Goderich, to take effect December e ember 1st. Parents who have children of school age will doubtless be wonder- ing why the school reports do not appear in this issue. The fact of the matter is that the school teach- ers have decided not to publish the reports monthly in future but every two .months, hence the reports will not appear till about the first of De - Mr. Alex Dow, of town, was pain- fully injured while clipping :a horse on Monday last. He was working on the front part"of the animal when it reared up and struck him on top of the head with one foot inflicting two deep calk wounds that requirc`fl' medical attention. The wonder is that the injury did not prove fatal considering the viciousness of the horse and the way Mr, Dow was hit. Mr. John Thompson, of the 2nd Concession of Usborne suet with an. accident on Thursday night last that threatened serious results. He had driven to Exeter with a load of apples and failing to dispose of them was cm his way home, and when near Eden the team in some way got off the road, the load upsetting into the ditch, the wagon :landing with the .four wheels in the air on top of the' apples.
