his home for several days but is able

daying at her home in Usborne.
Some sneak thief entered the
garage of Miss H. Sweet and stole
a brand new tire for a Ford car.
The new garage is -being pushed
forward rapidly and will be among
the outstanding buildings "of the
town.
Mr. R. B.' Quance, of Detroit,
spent a few days the latter part of
the week visiting with his family in
town.
Thanksgiving Day will be the
first 13pliday for the couriers on the
Rural routes under the new regula-
tions. •

A very interesting meeting of the
Gauen Young People's Guild Was
held on Monday evening, November
2nd, . The topic for the evening was
Tennyson and: Miss Hale introduced
the subject with a short address on
his religion and philosophy; of life.
Several of his selections were then
given including "Sweet and Low"
and "In, Memoriam." 'A chorus
"Sweet an". Low" given 'by a group
of the Junior girls was 'muoli ap-
preciated and a pleasing solo "Cros-
sing the Bar" was 'rendered by Mr.
Senior, Roll call was responded, t
by 63 members and 8 naw mother

were added 'to the roll malting a
total attendance of 81 and inereas-
ing the total membership •to 123.

Mr. and Mrs. Ulric' Snell• return-
ed hone last week from Cleveland,
where the latter underwent a second
Operation, which was successful and
Mrs. Snell. is now . getting along
nicely.
Mrs. Percy Webber returned home
last Saturday from- Victoria Hospital
where she was for nearly 3 weeks,
having had two operations, one for
trouble in the nose and the other
for .:ear' trouble. She is doing g nicely
since returning. The operations in
both' cases were a Success;
Last Sunday morning in Main Si:.
United church four • members were
received by letter and -fifteen on rip-
fession of faith. Two candidates
presented themselves for the sacra-
ment of Baptism and the Communion
service was the largest during the
ministry of the present'pastor.

church in Rip-
ley'

ley and in the- afternoon and, even-
ing will preach at the anniversary
services in Holyrood United church.
Holyrood-was one of Mr Clysdale's
congregations on a former charge.
The elections returns on Thurs-
clay last• were received at the Exeter
Opera House by telegram. There
was a good crowd present to hear
the returns, which ,were announced
by Messrs. R. N. Creech and, T S.
Woods. During the course of the
evening Mr. Freed Beaman enter-
tained the audience with- sortie Very
clever Carl tricks and 'slight -of hand
work that was much • appreciated.

Messrs. A. Middlem.iss and T. Wood-
ward,
