is being fitted up to be occupied by

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Amy, and child-
ren, of Burford, visited with Mrs.
Amy's mother, Mrs. E. Jory, over
the week -end.
The walls are up and the roof is
nearly completed on Mr. W. Shap -
ton's new house on the 2nd Conces-
sion of Stephen.
Mr. and Mrs. Marvin `Vincent, and
two children, of London, spent a few
days with the former's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. L. D. Vincent.
Rev. W. H. Parnaby, of Mt. Bryd-
ges, 'formerly- of Elimville was a
pleasant caller at the Times -Advo-
cate Monday morning while on„ his
way, to $3ruce Beach, near Kincar-
dine.
Several bowlers were up from Lu-
can Friday evening and enjoyed the
local tourney on the greens. 'The
winners were E. J. Wethey, T.Pry-
de, Rev. A. A. Trumper and W. W.
Taman.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Sweet, of
Cleveland, spent the week -end with
the former's, mother, Mrs. Thos.
Sweet: Mr. Sweet brought his car
to Pt. Stanley by boat and motored
up from there.

year. He had been ailing for some

A certain editor, unknown to

In looking over the Times -Advocate
subscription list we are led to be-
lieve that some mighty good women
are not getting the attention they
deserve.
An electric storm accompanied by
a heavy shower of rain visited this
section for about an hour Sunday
evening. It was the first rain for
over two weeks. The lightning
blew a switch at the hydro power
station and part of the lights of
town were off for a short time,

church were most encouraging last
Sunday though the clay was very
warm, After the evening service a
short Organ Recital was. given by
Robert Gambrill who has been sup-
plying as organist during the month
of August. His nuin'bers were 1i5-

congregation. At the close of the
recital, the Committee announced
the result of the congregational bal-
lot on the future nanxe Xor the
church which was a three to one vote
in favor of retaining the naine `Main
Street United Church."

newed acquaintances with their for-
