Seaforth and area
residents who worked
closely _together
preparing 1995's
homecoming event will
be gathering together
tonight (Dec. 20) at the
Seaforth Golf and
Country Club to keep
the homecoming spirit
alive.
''It was such a good
group of people.". said'
Carolanne Doig an
organizer of. the
informal Christmas
gathering of
h o m e c o m i n g
committee alumni who
worked for three years
to organize the event.
'When •the
.homecoming was over.
it was almost like these
people went into.
.withdrawal." said
Doig. •
The idea of coming
together each year at
Christmastime seemed
like a way to keep
everyone together that
.had worked hard to put
the homecoming
.together. meeting
first monthly. then
weekly and almost
daily the closer the
event came. A core
group of about 20
'people worked
intensely together to
get the event ready.
Getting i gether once
a year hasalso become
a way to keep. the
possibility of another
homecoming event
alive:
"We kind -Of -keep the
flame kindling." said
Doig.
With so much
groundwork already
done. including a
collected data base of
the whereabouts of .
former citizens. Doig is
hoping by keeping
everyone together. it
will be easier' -to
organize another
homecoming if,
someone decides to
"take the ball and keep
going," •
Anyone who helped
put together the 1995
event is invited to drop
by the golf course for
light refreshments and
socializing starting at'
7.30 p.m. tonight.

Smith unable to get on committee

The chair. vice -chair and

However, - Anderson,•

According to the three
separate prepared speeches
delivered by Smith as he
