Hensall recommending possible 1Jalrec tai.:. $acea
on snowmobiles to Bluewater's new council
Hensall council is

problem. with snowmobiles

Jan. 1.
"Snowmobiles continue
•-to be -a. problem.-' Acting
Works Superintendent
Derek Robinson advised
Hensall council at the final`
regular:meeting on Dec.
•
11.
Motorized snow
machines are making the
removal of • snow from
Village sidewalks very
difficult. and creating
hazardous conditions for
those walking. Council
added,their concern that
the excessive banks and
drifting in areas are
safety
-compounding
concerns.
The Village currently
has a by-law on the books,
that restricts the use of
snowmobiles within the
Village. At present,
snowmobiles are
prohibited from public
sidewalks•and boulevards.
.Hensall • council
recommended that the
Municipality of Bluewater
re-examine the by-law and
its enforcement. Council
further suggested that
barring more co-operation
from snowmobile
operators. perhaps a total
ban within the Vjllage
limit's is necessary.
,Council left the matter
as a recommendation at
this time; but is
encouraging owners to be
more responsible. Parents
are also asked to review
proper and sale operation
practices with their young
operators.
