Mitchell played a solid game and seemed to capitalize on every Centenaire mistake. It was a game that moved Mitchell a point ahead of Seaforth in the standings as the Hawks spoiled meet the player night, 7-1. Saturday night didn't promise to be any easier as the other Hawks from Exeter rode into town on an eight -game winning streak sitting in first place in the division. . The Cents got on the board first as Tim McClure cashed in his third goal of the year. Exeter went ahead 2-1 midway through on two goals, 24 seconds apart. Scott Henderson evened the score at two before the end of the period. Jay Baker put the Cents ahead before Exeter responded with two to hold a 4-3 lead into the final 20 minutes. Henderson evened the score on a powerplay early in the 3rd and the action went back and forth with scrambks'at both ends for most of the period. ft was Seaforth capitalizing with 1:31 left in the game as McClure's shot deflected wide to Henderson who was wide open as A.J. Larivee drew all the attention in the front of the net. ' "We've been stressing that traffic to the net and its been decent the last couple of games," said coach Jason Papple. The Cents held on for the final minutes for their eighth win of the season. Art Larivee praised the efforts of youngsters Tim McClure and Joe Nesbitt. "Those guys, both played their best games of the year tonight." he said. The win snapped a 4 game losing streak and marked the final game's suspension for Scott Van Dooren and Jeff Arnold. Assistant coach Mark Wilson said the attitude was much more positive before this game than it had been for the past several losses. "Everybody was upbeat and ready to go. It was a relief to get a win," he said. The playoff format has been determined .and the conference will combine divisions for a I st vs' 8th (etc.) format. Midway through the season Lucan. Belmont. Seaforth. Parkhill and Mitchell are in a close battle for. positions five through nine: Port Stanley.'Thamesford, Mount Brydges and Exeter sit in the top four spots. .
