realize that Ontario Premier
Mike Hams (PC), is giving
the health care sector federal
funds not provincial.
"I want Harris to tell the
people where the money
came from," he said.. "The
Ontario government got S500
million 'one time for health
care. They sat on the money
until last week. They waited
one year and the people have
forgotten where the money
came from. But it's. federal
government funds." •
Steckle said a portion of Vie
money was. to be used to hire
nurses.
"Where has ail the money,
gone:' Because wages have
scarcely gone up. They cut
nurses and beds and yet
they're still short of money`'"
The Canadian Alliance•is
not recommending the best
route when it asks for more

Steckle and the. Liberals
believe keeping strings
attached to those monies is
the best_wav to keep. control
