councillor for
Hibbert, the past
three years on West
Perth and the

council. Prior to
that, he -served 10
yearsr..as a trustee

Dublin and six years as a
trustee for the Huron -Perth
Separate School Board. •

Besides water quality
and nutrient management,
what issues face the
agricultural community
and what can the new
municipality do to support
the local agricultural
industry? Farming is in
crus. Farmers have always
hecn price takers•and the
squeeze between rising costs
such as fuel and low
commodity prices threaten
the future of agriculture. In
an attempt to gain some
ccst19omics of wale farms are
gelling larger. Huron Cast
can ensure that zoning will
be in place to ,protect
agricultural lands. In the past
farmers have been'able to
approach township councils
about drains, tile loans or
other questions on an
informal basis. I intend to
have this ease of access
continue: I have farmed for.
twenty years and have some
understanding of agriculture.
While everyone is
emphasizing the need to
work together to make
Huron East work. there are.
still distinct rural and
urban centres with varying
needs and concerns. How
can you assure Huron East
residents that you are able
as deputy -reeve before
amalgamation.
Past president of the Perth
County Farm Safety
Association. he is a current
member of the Mitchell.&
District Agricultural Society
and an elder of the Hibbert
United Church. He is also
past chair of the Seaforth
Hospital Board. serving there
for nine years. and three years
as a director of the Ausable
Bayfield Conservation
Authority representing West
Perth. He also currently sits
on the West Perth Energy &
Environment
Committee.

The Avon Maitland District School Board invites local
associations Or organizations. that operate to further .the interests
and well-being of exceptional children or adults, to apply to
nominate a representative and an alternate to serve as a volunteer
on its Special Education Adslsury Committee (SEAC) for the
penud December 01; 2000 to November 30.2003.
The Special Education Advisory Committee -is a statutory
standing committee al the Avon Mtaitland:District School Board.
It will Meet approximately 10 times dunng the school year on the
first Wednesday of every month from,S:30 p.m. until
approximately 8:90 p.m.
A person is qualified to be a member of the SEAC who:

is a Canadian citizen,
is a resident within the jurisdiction of the. Avon Maitland
District School Board:
