Anderson: I am seeking a position on council because I
would enjoy representing ratepayers in.Ward 2. Also, I have
been a member of the Central Huron transition board and
would like to see the intentions of the board implemented.
Bergsma: Because I enjoy it and feel I have something to
contribute for the people of Ward 2 and to work together in an
amalgamated community.
Duizer: I'm seeking a seat on the new amalgamated council
in order to assist in, through my experiences in politics and
business, a smooth and effective transition for the ratepayers•
from local councils to the new expanded Central Huron
Council.

for the last six years and on the transition process of Central
Huron.
Q: What are the key issues facing the municipality? How
do you plan to address these issues?
Anderson: A key issue facing the new municipality will be
the amalgamation. combining the rural and urban as one. My
goalris to consider the wants and needs of all the ratepayers
and to try to come up with the fairest solution for everyone.
Bergsma: Amalgamation, agriculture and also the clean
water issue.
Duizer: I believe the main issue all municipalities are facing
is the effective implementation of the new expanded council.
In the combined municipalities, all ratepayers should be
represented equally, and I will strive to see that happen.
Hugill: They are water quality and manure waste
management and environment as issues of the future.
Q: What do you think the role of local government should
be:
Anderson: The role of local government should be to
represent and communicate with the local ratepayers and to
