Screams and shrieks, howls and growls greeted the many visitors who came to the "Haunted House" which was very successfully facilitated by the Grade 7 and 8 youth.group in the St. Columban parish hall this past weekend as the young people celebrated some Halloween fun. Ghoulish tour guides led visitors through the many spooky rooms and tunnels which added to the suspense as visitors made their way through the house. The young people, as well as the adults who helped, are to be congratulated for the hard work that went into the "special effects" which made the project so successful. A well planned "friendly arca" had several different activities to amuse and entertain the youngsters who Residents tribute to • St. Columban didn't enjoy visiting the spooky area. The event contributed a substantial amount to the local food bank. Ruth Marx, Deka Lake, B.C., spent' some time in the area visiting with her father. Joe Manley from Ritz Villa, Mitchell, and her sisters, Pat Corman, Waterloo and Marie Hicknell. Congratulations to Janet Murphy, daughter of Bill and Luella Murphy, who recently graduated from the University of Waterloo where she received her Bachelor of Mathematics. Degree. Stacy and Kailyn Burke are preparing, along with their colleagues in the St. Marys Children's Choir to perform in • concert Sunday at Northside United Church. This will be the first concert performed in our local area by this award winning group conducted by Eileen Baldwin. The students of St. • Columban School recently participated in the Huron -Perth Cross Country Meet held at Witdwood. The nine and 10 - year -old girls team placed By R 345 Mary C. yon -2560 • enjoy Germany Seaforth Manor Nursing Home • Residents enjoyed all our . events for our "Tribute to Germany." this past month. German• chocolate brownies were mad by our baking club and were a tasty afternoon treat for everyone. Our wine and cheese party featured several :German wines for all to taste. A travel video of • Munich and Bavaria was followed by some delicious cherry strudels. The highlight of,our month was our Oktoberfest -dance with Gladys Van Egmond and her Merry Makers who delighted • • everyone with their authentic outfits and an afternoon of German polkas and accordion music. In preparation for Halloween. residents carved a jack -o -lantern. watched a special Lawrence Welk Halloween Show and passed, out treats to all our little ghosts and goblins who visited that evening. We enjoyed several - musical entertainments, provided by Carol Carter. Marian Rose. Bill Gipson; Paul the Fiddler. Bill Pepper and Carol LeBeau and the Delaney's Band. We also were happy'to have our clergy. Rev. Dino Salvador. Rev. Judith Springett. Rcv. Nick Vandt:rmey. Rev. Doug Corriveau and Rev. Rob Hiscox conduct our church services during October. The children from the Seaforth Nursery School once again visited to entertain fora morning of fun. As well. the students from the, grade 7 class from Seaforth Public School continue their Tuesday morning visits to assist with our howling program. Our Boston bulldog makes • a visit every Monday morning through the St. John's Ambulance Ret Therapy Program. This gets everyone's - morning off to a good start, as residents really enjoy this program. As well. everyone looks forward to seeing Tanya Hallman, our massage therapist who makes her rounds every Tuesday.
