to fair
condition
Jason Ryan, 19. of RR 1
Dublin. has been upgraded
from critical to fair condition at
London Health Science Centre
after a single car collision
outside of,Mitchell on Highway
23.
Ryan's car struck a hydro
pole at about 4:25 a.m. Oct. 15.
Bike stolen from Victoria Park
A 14year-old Seaforth boy
had his bicycle stolen from
Victoria Park on Victoria St.
in Seaforth on Oct.' 4. reports
the Huron OPP.
A 21 -speed yellow men's
Supercycle mpxsoo00 was
taken from the park sometime
during the late afternoon.
Anyone with any related
information is asked to
contact Crimestoppers or the
Huron OPP. '
$34, 000 truck stolen from
Hensall driveway
A Hensall resident tried to
leave for work last Tuesday
morning and found his
$34,000 truck stolen out of
his driveway.
The resident of London
Road was woken by
squealing tires at around 4:30
a.m. on Oct. 3 and when he
later got up for work he
discovered his truck. which
he had left unlocked with the
keys in the ignition. was
stolen.
The 2000 Ford FI50
extended cab blue and white
pick-up had Ontario plates
#3640AP on the front and
rear.
Ariyone with any related
information is asked to
contact Crimestoppers or the
Huron .OPP.
CD's and case stolen from
vehicle
A Kippen youth reported
the theft of 66 CDs and a
carrying.case from a vehicle
he left parked on Wilson St.
in Goderich overnight on Oct.

Shed damaged in
Egmondville
On October 15th, 2000 at 10
p.m. damage was reported to
a shed located on
Centre Street in
Egmondville. The owner told
police that sometime in the
last hour a person using a
paint gun pellet his shed in
orange paint leaving a mesh.
Anyone who can help
police find the person
responsible is asked to call
the local OPP or by calling
Crimestoppers.
Steckle and Beaven
only candidates
to date in election

Beaven.
The Alliance candidate also
criticised federal gun
registration law as expensive
and ineffective.
"Let's put that money where
it's going to make a
difference," he said.
The English -horn Beaven
came with his family to
Mitchell in 1971. He has also
lived in various parts of
Canada, including Quebec.
and the United States. He has
lived in Huron -Bruce since
1992. He owns a hobby farm
north of Brussels and works
for the Ontario Egg Producers
Marketing Board.
Beaven told the story of
taking a call from a French-
speaking woman who wanted
to paint the Alliance party as
anti -French. Beaven. who is
bilingual, was able to take the
call in French and told the
woman she should phone
Steckle's constituency office
to see if she could be served in
French there.
Beaven ended his speech
saying "Thank you very
much, Merci bcaucoup."
Beaven will be running
against two-time Liberal MP
Paul Steckle.
Steckle was first elected to
represent Huron -Bruce in
Ottawa in 1993 and was re-
elected in 1997. He is a
former Huron County Warden
(1985) and served on council
in his native Stanley
Township, where he was
Reeve (1980 -'85).
Steckle outlined. at his Sept.
13 nomination meeting. his
views on a government's job. •
"It is our responsibility to
bring good government.
provide safe .streets and
provide an economy where
people wish to move forward.
and not constantly wonder if
they should move across the
border to the United States."
he said.,
Stan Eby. who nominated
Steckle. said Steckle is a
"proven leader who can stand
up and state his views ... he
has served us extremely well."
