Family received friends at the Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home, Seaforth. on Saturday from 7.9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial was held at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Seaforth, on Monday, October 16 at 11 a.m. Fr. Children in the before and after school program are thrilled with their new space in the portable directly behind the centre. The school age classroom doors enter directly into the centre playground and • the playground at Seaforth Public School. providing accessible .space for' children,. staff and parents. A safe walking route for children attending Seaforth Public School ,has been arranged for children making the transition. from school to the school-age classroom at the centre. A centre staff member picks up and drops 'off children who attend St. James Elementary School. Busing arrangements have not been made available. The following play centres have been created' for children to relax and enjoy with friends before and after school: -craft area: dramatic play, lego table, table:games, air hockey/pool table, nintendo' and computer games, quiet corner with a fish tank an4 books. and Snack.. - John Macgregor. Brodie Seaforth Co-operative Children's Centre Cairns, Aaron Mason and Tyler Watson have increased their hand eye co-ordination 'and problem solving skills - while -in -competition at the pool table. - Increased gross motor skills and self confidence was seen as Joe Metzger and Zach. MacLean kick the soccer ball -around. • The preschool' children have been invited to do their morning circle with the folk at the Seaforth Manor on a ,monthly. basis. These outings are important intergenerational opportunities. Mary Verherne. and assistant Marissa Scott led the preschool group in a sing song during the visit. Jonathon Penner and Claire McFadzean did a great job shaking hands and greeting many- folk at.the Manor. George Tetu shared his stuffed squirrel with the. children and the group sang a fun .'song about the squirrel. After the final song "You Are My Sunshine, Pat Ryan .thanked the children for joining them. Youth ages 11 and 12 in the ' community took advantage of the Sept._ 29 elementary , school professional development day by. taking the babysitting course offered -by Seaforth Co Operative Children's -Centre. , Rocenlly• children ages 16 mos. to 10 years travelled to Shryha Sheep Farm at Jamestown. Children experienced that farming sheep is a lot. of -;vork anda_lot of fun._.:. _ .__- -. Kevin Bishop sheared -a sheep ftir the group and children made a craft' using the real wool. Molly Rooyakkers thought the pony rides were the hest. Paul Doig had all the correct answers to the pop quiz about, the uses of wool. Due to the new CSA standards for playgrounds. the large equipment at .the centre has been removed. Many items have been brought outdoors to increase the activities (i,e. kitchen centre): The tricycle path and the sand box are still well used..
