Stratford igeludes setting up•
two new •corporations for the
application of. the sale to. the
Ontario Energy Board, town
council heard at their Oct. 10
meeting. •

Stratford to make sure all the
necessary paperwork is done

Seaforth council entered
into negotiations with the
City . of .Stratford to sell the
PUC during a Special
meeting on July 14. The sale
• price of 51.375 trillion with
a five-year employment
• guarantee, was approved by
• council at that meeting: •
Two corporations, one for
the distribution of hydro and
the .other for other hydro
services such as the rental of
water heaters, must be set up
for the Ontario Energy Board
application.
If the sale is approved.. the
new corporations will. be
owned by Stratford. During
the•two months it will take
for the Ontario Energy Board
to make a decision. the
Seaforth PUC will continue
to operate the new -
corporations, - said
McLachlan.
Another piece of
paperwork to be completed
includes a letter from
Seaforth statingthat there are
no PCBs in storage at the
time of the sale.
"They want to make sure
they're aware of any future
liability. fore any
environmental concerns.
And, that's no problem
because we have no PCBs
here," said McLachlan.

Jason Ryan, 19, of RR 1 Dublin is in critical condition in
the critical trauma unit at London Health Science Centre
after a single vehicle collision Sunday at 4:25 a.m. outside of
Mitchell.
Sebringville OPP report.that Ryan was driving a 2000
Cbev Cavalier on Line 39, east of Highway 23 whet) it left
the roadway and struck a hydro pole.
He was transported to Stratford General Hospital and later
transferred to London with serious injuries.
The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit is.

approve new
accommodation
review process

Avon Maitland District School Board trustees
unanimously approved a revised process for examining.
available ,school space in a new accommodation review
policyat its Oct, 10 meeting.
In a rarely -used format following the board's regular
.meeting, trustees entered a public session of committee of.
the whole. thereby providing public access to discussions`of
the issue for the Live members.of the public in attendance.
But there was little trustee discussion, short of praising the
staff which created the new document. entitled Board Policy
No. 29: Student :Accommodation Review.
"When I look at this policy. I'm not looking•at .uwthine •
much different from what we've had hetore:. it's just .heen
enhanced." said trustee Abby Armstrong. • .
• But the previous policy for closing schools which had
been drafted by many of the same "staff members: accounted
for part of the reason the board faded to defend its•Fehruarv.

outside local ward

Two Seaforth-area residents are running for public school
trustee outside their ward of Central Huron to try and "stop
the closure of more rural schools.
Maureen Agar, chair of the Seaforth Distnct-High School
council for eight years and Jim. Floyd. past president of the
Seaforth Agricultural Society,, are both seeking seats on the'
Avon Maitland District School Board. -•
Agar is running against current. hoard c:.fiair Wendy
Anderson .in the ward of Perth East while Floyd is runiring
"against current trustee Colleen Schenk in the ward of
Northeast Huron. •
Agar, a local farmer.who grew tip in Stratford. says she
chose to run against Anderson during t recent candidates day,
