Cents win one, lose one over weekend
The Cents welcomed a
familiar face back to town on
Friday as forme0Centenaire
Scott Van Dooren returned to
the lineup after playing last
year with All -Ontario Jr. C
finalist Belle River.
Unfortunately. it was not .
the welcoming thte Cents had
hoped for. as the .Centenaires
spotted Mount Brydges what
las come to be a customary
goal lead.
e Bulldogs managed
-,r power play goals
rtrough the first two periods
as referee Mike Logan began
a parade to the penalty box.
The Cents' power play was,
unable to reciprocate and the
local'boys started the third
period down bythree.
The Bulldogs , •added
another goal five minutes
into the third and Seaforth
had an uphill battle ahead of
them.
Midway through the third
Scott Henderson finally got
the Cents on the board as he
broke in the left wing and
beat the Bulldogs' netminder
over the shoulder.
Four minutes later, Scott
Van Dooren brought the
Cents to within two but that
is as close as they would get.
Despite an even number of
shots, the Cents were unable
to finish on their chances and
ended up losing 4-2.
"We could just as easily
have won tonight,
commented coach Art
Larivee. "The effect was
there, the chances were there.
Things just didn't go our way
tonight."
Saturday night looked like
it may be the same story as
the Cents travelled to
Belmont. outshooting the
Bombers. 50-24 but
squeezing nut just a 4-3
victory.
The Bombers managed to
get the first two goals of the
game on errant clearing
passes before Jeff Arnold
capitalized on his- own
rebound and sent the Cents to
the dressing room down 2-1
after the first period.
Scott Van Dooren •went to
work six seconds into the
second period picking off a
Bomber cross ice pass and
scoring on a breakaway.
One minute later, Van
Dooren finished it again
giving the Cents the lead.
That lead held up until 3:12
of the second when the
Cents' power play coughed
up the' puck, in their own end
and set up a short handed
goal for the Bombers starting'
the third period tied at three.
The Cents had numerous
chances through the third but
failekto capitalize until Mike
