Dunbar defends his suggestions to
reduce costs of town hall renovation
To the Editor:
This letter is to clarity seteral of the points raised in David
Scott's letter of last week in which he berates your
newspaper:
His memory is rather selective when it comes to recounting
Me transition board meeting of Sept. 25. i objected to the cost
of renovating the town hall because it was over the budget...
1 stated that. if the •lift and window replacement were
dropped then it would be close to budget. I also said that for
- about 5300.000. which will be" close w the final cost; that
some alternatives should be explored. -
lalso stated that by -committing this amount to the building.
other transitional projects would not be done.. t.
It is rather hypocritical of Scott that 1 should be criticized- -, for suggesting that the hit he dropped from the project. If he -
andSeaforth council were so concerned about accessibility to.
the council chambers why did they not address this problem°
The point that I am standing for the office of mayor and
therefore should not be interviewed is absurd. I chose to be a
member of the transition board because I am interested in how
the new municipality develops. If the other candidate has no
time or. interest in this shaping of Huron East. then the
inaction speaks for itself.
" In my 12 years of municipal council. 1 have always sought
the best value for the taxpayer's dollar. Township of Grey has- •
the lowest tax rate in the county' a first class office building
and an excellent road system. 1 will continue to seek the
proper balance between service for the public and property
taxes.
