When she was a little girl
attending Seaforth Public
School from •Kindergarten
through . Grade 8, Jane
•Morton never imagined she'd
retum to her home school as
principal someday.
."1 always -thought I'd like
teaching, though." says the
graduate of SPS and Seaforth
District High School and
former teacher at SPS. . •
Morton became acting
principal last week when
SPS's new principal Kevin
Smith unexpectedly -retired
for personal reasons. Ross
MacSorley. of Avon Public
School in Stratford.. has
become the vice-principal at
SPS.- '
"I was delighted to be
asked last year to came back

.says.
As- an eight -'year-old
'student at, SPS, Morton
watched the addition of the
west wing o(•., the public
school being built and was
.also_attending the public
school when the Walton
students from Grades 5 to 8
began attending SPS.
"1 remember both things as
• '.being very exciting. It was
particularly exciting to have a
friend who lived in Walton
and'be able to -take the bus
home with her. sometimes."
she says.
And. as principal. Morton
Seaforth Public School principal Jane Morton
says she's pleased to see how
smoothly the students from
Walton Public School. which
was closed by the Avon
Maitland School Board last:
year, are !settling into the
Seaforth public school
community. , •
She says Walton parents
are joining the school council
-and . have been •very
welcoming of her as
prihcipal.
The SJ3S student
population increased by more
khan 100 students this year
when .Walton's Kindergarten.
toGrade 4 students, along i
with several former Huron
Centennial students who live!
in Egrnondville began
attending SPS'. The school l
population has grpwn from.
325 to 431.
The school is .completely
full . with two glasses in.1
portables,' five new teachers
and a) sixth part -tine teacher
soon to join the staff for a
fifth Kindergarten class.

Fall sports season cancelled for WOSSA

Time has finally run out
on the high school sports
fall -season. -
After a final appeal for
Western Ontario Secondary
School Athletic Association
(WOSSAA) convenors was
unanswered. representatives
met. in London. on Monday
night and officially
suspended the: fall season.
---"There are no WOSSAA
convenors -and there will•be
no chafnpionshps in Huron -
Perth or Thames Valley."
said Seaforth District High
School coach 'Terry
Johnston. "So 'basically
there's not a lot of anything
happening.,.
.i .. The Huron -Perth Athletic
:Association suspended their
tall sports season on Sept.
25 after a meeting 1 in
