Ambassador format clanged this year By Scott Hilpendorft Expositor EditPi 11 With a new date looming. for the Agricul):ural Society's annual, fall fair, preparations are being' made for a new format to the Ambassador to the Fair competition. Instead of a formal !dinner and dance, Sandra. Hunt, coordinator of the event, said teh forfnat has been switched the format to one more accessible to everyone. Without a more costly dinner and dance format Hunt said, "I'm hoping we might attract a lot more of the younger crowd." Right now, she said people usually only go• if they) have friends or family involved and that many people leave after the crowning and don't stay for the dance. This year, the society has decided not to. hold a dance. Instead, admission to the competition is free and it will bei held in conjunction with the popular pork carcass auction and will include entertainment by an award winning children's performer. Seaforth Agricultural Society president, Gord Glen also said the new format allows all the competitors to take part in the fair before having to give a speech. In the past, the dinner and dance for the imiaassador competition was held the week before the fair with the newly chosen ambassadorf presiding over the fair the following week. Now, Glen said the competitors can draw from their experiences at the fair during the day on Friday and include that in their efforts to be awarded the ambassador title. This year, ambassador contestants will give a short speech during Friday's opening ceremonies that follow the annual parade. During the day, judges will meet with the contestants for personal interviews. Starting at 7:30 p.m. the contestants will each give a three to five minute speech before three or four finalist are selected. Those finalists will then be asked to give an impromptu speech on a topic given to them at that time, before the ambassador is selected. 11 0 it 1T r. r `!I 1 We've Moved 1 Just up the stree 1 1' Come See Us' I at our New Location. ,The Huron Expositoi 11 Main St. (between Seaforth Sewing & Won s ' S Gin( Seaforth 527-0240 --' Fax 527-2858 -1 t ,, PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT Community Care Access Centre for Huron ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING The Board of Directors cordially invites you to attend the 4th Annual General Meeting of the Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) for Huron on Tuesday, September 19th at 7:00 p.m. This event will be held in the Library of Central Huron Secondary School, at 165 Princess St. E. in Clinton, Ontario.
