Ethiopians came to learn but taught their hosts

Sixty-five million people
live in an area the size of

farmers. The average farm .is

and they are supposed to feed
their families,;on that land
base.
While we complain of wet.

many areas.that is drying up

and went into their
compounds for supper and
that if they did happen to
come back out they•usually
had a dog on a leash and went
for a walk.

down the highway they found
it odd that no one was
walking along the shoulder of

highway at all times.

about 90 people at_ Bethel

Seaforth area plowers
take many top spots
at county plovvulg. match
The 2000 Huron County Plowing Match was held on
Aug. 25. east of Gorrie.
The host was William Bennett and Sons Farms Ltd. with
special use of the Howick Township office and shed.
Foray -seven plowers took part as well as three Queen of
the Furrow contestants. A total of 88 lands were plowed.
The following are class winners: Class 2 - Jason Rugin,
Seaforth; Class 3 - Paul Dodds, Seaforth; Class 4 - Carman
Weppler, Clifford; Class 4A - Allen. Millman, St. Thomas;
Class 5 - Shawn Flanagan, .Dublin; Class 6 - Jason Hugill,
Seaforth; Class 6A - Terson Arts, Seaforth; Class 7 - Paul
Dodds, Seaforth; Class 7A - Allen Millman, St. Thomas;
Class 8 Colin Dougherty, Caledonia; Class 8A - Don

Flanagan, Dublin, both 11.
Queen of the Furrow is Becky Versteeg. daughter of Art
and Jenny, of Corrie.
The horseshoe pitching results are: 1st - Jack and Leah
Snell; 2nd - Norma Coleman and Donnie Parsons; 3rd -
Betty Spa/ling and Jack Britnell; 4th - Gus Latulippe and
Keith Moffatt.
The Ross Gordon trophy for the best plowed crown on
junior day was won by Andy Pethick, Seaforth.
