Murray of murder in 1997,
but police continued their
investigation.
While police have said
they continued to follow up
sightings of Mistic Murray;,
reported through Child Find,'
they have also maintained
they believe the body is in
the lake.
"It's important thht the
government look at •the case
again land say there is
absolutely no possibility that
she was murdered and that
her body is in the lake," said
Murray.
During yesterday's media
conference both Cudmore
and Mufti -ay said a boat
owned by Clinton resident
George Tesseris might have
been confused for the one;
owned by Steven Murqy.
During his trial, the Crown
relied on a witnesses who
saw a boat at dusk on May
31, 1'995 - the day Mistie
disappeared.
The witnesses said from a
distance the boat looked and
sounded like a vessel owned
by Murray.
Both boats were 24 -footers
with similar colours and loud
engines.
"I was out that night, that's
for sure," said Tesseris. "I
remember fishing but what
time I went out. who I might
have saw or what time I
came hack I .don't
remember."
Tesseris said he remains
disappointed that police
waited nearly one month
before interviewing him
about the night in question..
"For me to get out of the
harbour, 1 would have to
pass by Steven Murray's
boat but I don't remember
seeing it," said Tesseris. "I
don't remember seeing
anybody or anything because
I didn't look.
"I feel I should have been
asked all those questions the
next day if somebody was
. missing."
According to Murray's
lawyer, all fingers continue
to point to a quick judgement
on the part of police.
"I think it was one of those
unfortunate situations where
you get a mindset and the
mindset was that a: murder
was committed," said
Cudmore.
"The focus bu'came that
she was dumped in the lake
when I think it should have
been much broader and it
should have focused on a
missing' person, not a
murder."
OPP officers are now
Being investigated after
complaints of professional
misconduct in the Murray
case.
In May, a civilian review
board ordered another force,
York Regional Police, to
conduct the probe. The order
came after an internal OPP
investigation found mistakes,
but no misconduct.
A review (If the Murray
case is continuing but results
are not expected for months.
Despite the ongoing
investigation Murray said
she hopes to work with other
police in hopes of finding
her daughter.
"I'm looking at having
police help me get agc
enhanced photos and to go
on with a missing person
investigation," said Murray.
"I'm not lookingat what the

"I believe that after five
years of lack of cooperation
it's reasonable to ask for
unbiased police." .
During the months
following her disappearance,
Mistie was reportedly seen
often by friends and
strangers, but sightings have
slowed in recent years.
A recent episode of the
Fifth Estate looked at the
Murray case but no new
information has been

remains , confident her
daughter will be found. .
-"It's a five year battle but
it's not tiring when you're a

"Mothers ncver,give up on
