Team Huron East
The Huron East Transition Board has hired the administration
team that now takes the helm of Huron East which officially
forms in January when Seaforth and Brussels and
Tuckersmith. McKillop and Grey Township amalgamate. They
are: Brad Knight (Grey Township treasurer becoming
Treasurer -Finance Manager); Jack McLachlan (Seaforth,
Tuckersmith McKillop Administrator becoming Clerk -
Administrator); Donna White, Brussels Clerk -Administrator
becoming Deputy Clerk -Treasurer); and John Forrest (Seaforth
Public Works Superintendent becoming Public Works
Coordinator). Their new positions take effect immediately as
they coordinate the amalgamation. Interviews for the
positions of Building Official/Bylaw Officer and Director of
Recreation and Facilities tomorrow (Aug. 3).

The Huron County
Federation of Agriculture will
be able to continue renting
space in the former municipal
office of Tuckersmith
Township. representatives of
the federation were told at
Tuckersmith council's July 4
meeting.

future of the building. which
the federation has rented for
the past 19 years but has been
declared surplus to the future

Federation representatives
told council they were not
interested in buying the
building. They said they
would advise the mtinicipality
if any other organizations
were interested in renting a
portion of the building.
Firefighters coming
from across province
for the convention

Departments are coming
from across Ontario for the
convention and to compete
in the games, including
departments from Burke's
Falls in Northern Ontario
and the Peterborough area.
Saturday's events also
feature a breakfast being
cooked in the Agriplex's
small hall, starting at 7 a.m.
The annual meeting for the
FFAO takes place from 9
a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the
community centre's main
hall.
At 9:30 a.m., the first
round of judging begins for
the Miss Firefighter
competition in the in the
arena's upstairs hall, which
features local competitor.

Miss Firefighter becomes
the ambassador for the
FFAO similar to fall fair
ambassador competitions.
At 10:30 a.m., judging
begins for the fire safety
youth representative in the
arena's committee room and
upstairs hall.'
Final judging for Miss
Firefighter begins at 4 p.m.
followed by the youth
representative at 4:30 p.m. in
the arena's main hall.
The large hall at the.
agriplex is site to exhibits
from firefighting
memorabilia to services used
by departments which opens
at 10 a.m. both Saturday and
'Sunday.
Saturday night ends with
entertainment by local '
performers Suzie Q and Mr.
B at the Agriplex, hosted by
the Seaforth Agricultural
Society.
Sunday begins with
another 7 a.m. breakfast
followed by a memorial
parade starting at 9 a.m.
Following Sunday's round
of games is ah Optimist Club
fish fry starting at 4:30 p.m.
at the arena.
The Optimist Club will
then host a "Millennium
Sizzler" dance. starting at 8
p.m. at the arena, featuring
the band; Blackwater Draw.
Also at 8 p.m. the Business'
Improvement Area will hold
its new car draw at the arena
with proceeds going toward
the organization's 'downtown
beautification and mural
projects.
Monday, the convention's
final day begins with one
more 7 a.m. breakfast and a
9 a.m. firefighter parade.
The parade wraps up.at the
Agriplex where award
presentations are made for
the parade and games.
followed by closing
ceremonies at 1 p.m.
