HomeMy WebLinkAboutHuron Expositor, 2000-07-26, Page 3Local youth charged in vehicle theft A 17 -year-old Seaforth youth and a 15 -year-old from Blyth were arrested and held for court Monday in connection with a stolen vehicle from Grand Bend. OPP were called July 13 at 9 p,m. from a concerned citizen in McKillop Township that led police to the youths and the 1990 Nissan, found close to where the two were found on Sideroad 20. OPP are still investigating and consider the two suspects in other investigations. Fax machine stolen A fax machine and Motorola cordless telephone. valued at 5500, was reported stolen after a break and enter at Huron Auto Body Shop in Hensall July 17. The event will see at least 26 three-member teams competing in a three -on -three basketball tournament such as those held in cities like London. "1 wanted. to do something in. Seaforth rather than Sudbury." said Sean Ludwig. a sports. administration student at Sudbury's . Laurentian - University. - Part of the upcoming school year. Ludwig is' required to perform 120 hours of volunteer service but 'is completing that service early by organizing . the event through the Seaforth Recreation -Department. Ludwig was involved in Seaforth minor sports' and. said. "Yjust wanted•to give smaller. local event to allow youth in Huron .and Perth County •a chance to - get involved when they might ,oth•erwise. he intimidated or unable 'to enter the city events. "I wanted t;:. romote _the• sport of basketball to youth in the area.•' said Ludwig. who plays varsity. basketball at Laurentian. . With four courts at .play at a time.
