"►as Scott Hilgendorff photo Students from First Presbyterian Church's youth group took part in a -30-hour famine" effort to raise $1,115 for the foodgrains project. Members of the youth group gathered on a weekend at the church this spring where they played games and entertained themselves as they went without food (just water and juice) for 30 hours, collecting pledges for their efforts. Among the students taking pari were (front, from left) Adam McKichan, Jill McKichan, Stephanie Bach, Craig Nicholson and Tim Robinson and (back, from left) Dale Ann McKichan, Ryan Nicholson, Mike Dillon and Jim Murray, who was receiving the cheque on behalf of the Canadian Food Grains Bank. Residents enjoy marching band Seaforth Manor Nursing Home Our building was decorated with flags in every window, the trees surrounding our front circle drive were sporting huge red and white bows, balloons encircled our red and white Heritage Garden and the weather was perfect. The stage was set for a gala performance from the Seaforth District High School All -Girls Marching Band. who entertained a crowd of more than 200 on our front lawn prior to Canada Day. Residents were decked out in special Canada Day hats, pins, flags and balloons for this event. Following the concert, Administrator Lynne Lawson introduced Pat Ryan who thanked the band and presented a gift to them and Marie Litt. Huron -Bruce MP Paul Steckle officially cut the ribbon to open our new Heritage Garden, a special project to the Manor, in honour of the Millenium. This event was certainly the highlight of our June activities for Seniors Month. Other highlights included our Strawberry Social on June 13. featuring piano music by Carol Carter and delicious strawberry shortcake and whip cream., As well. our home pain tribute to our many Pastoral Care and Musical Entertainment volunteers at our Annual Volunteer Luncheon on June 22. It is difficult to describe how much admirationand respect we feel for all our volunteers who contribute their time, talents and concern for our residents every day of the year. Our Seaforth Ministerial held its last meeting of the season. We look forward to its return in September. We appreciate our clergy who continue with their summer services at the Manor. We also treated the Grade Se class to some goodies as a thank you for their weekly visits since last September for our Bowling Buddies Program. Gloria Wilbee entertained with guitar music and singing on our front lawn for our June birthday party. We also entertained with Bill Gibson. Dr. Mark Woldnik barbecued hamburgers for all our men prior to Father's Day as they enjoyed lunch and a pub, on the patio. The Breakfast Club and weekly barbecues outside continue to be popular events. We are looking forward to our bus trip to Goderich beach upcoming on July 17, as well as an outing to the Seaforth Lions Park for entertainment and supper on July 19, courtesy of the Seaforth Lions Club. Sympathy to her children - Barbara McGrath of Rexdale; Cheryl McGrath of Dublin; Sandra and Paul Haynes of Dublin: Donna and Neil Beuerman of Seaforth and Ken and Waneeta McGrath of Seaforth. Congratulations to Martin and Linda Feeney on the arrival of Hilary Elizabeth, Omdahl McColl pin Danielle Omdahl and Kevin Richard McColl were united in marriage on ,June .10, 2000 at the bride's parents' home in Warkworth, Ontario. The bride was attended by her sister Robin and the groom's sister Shari. Best Man was Jamie Harwood, friend of the couple and groomsman was D.J. McColl, cousin of the groom. The couple resides in Seaforth, Ontario. They returned via Ottawa by way of Sault Ste. Marie for the District Deputy training seminar. Don is District Deputy for District 72 overseeing activities of Seaforth. Clinton. Barbara Lynn Kittmer and Daniel Gary McNichol were united in marriage on May 13, 2000 at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Seaforth with Father Dino Salvador officiating. Lynn is the daughter of Barb Wolfe of Mitchell and Doug Kittmer of Sundridge and Dan is the son of Maryanne McNichol of Seaforth and Gary McNichol of McKillop Township. The Matron of Honour was Katrina Dietz, the Maid of Honour was Kelly Kittmer, and the Bridesmaids were Mary Stock; Julie Buuck, Jacquie McNichol and. Tracey DeJong. The Bestman was Steve Schroeder, and the Groomsmen were. Jeff Dolmage, Matt McNichol, Blaine Marks, John Huether and Mark McNichol. The singers were Sarah Noakes and Casey Van Bakel and the organist was Cheryl Ann St. Onge. The scripture readers were Lorianne Horan and Mike Kittmer. Following the ceremony a reception was held at Seaforth & District Community Centres with Steve Van Dyk as Master of Ceremony. e' The couple honeymooned in Las Vegas, and are now residing in McKillop Township.
