CAR SMASHES HYDRO POLE
WHEN DITCHED
On Sunday evening last about 'six
o'clocktwo auto loads of Detroit
to'arists no were returning from a
holiday rip on the Bruce penin-
sula, we proceeding south on the
London rad, 'a short distance 'south
of town vhen the,rear car had the
misfortuneto havea blow=out in the
rightfrfint tire. As the car was
travelli 'g .at a fast speed the tire
pulled off and in so doing pull-
ed the car into the ditch at -the.
right li nd side of .the road. .,,The
car stru k' a hydro pole and broke
twplacesand stripped the

wheel, fe der, etc from the front of
the car. he occupants of the ma-
chine const ed of ,a• man, his wife
and daughter aged about 13 years.
The 'latter re eived several severe
cuts and -bruise when she was forc-
ed through the idewindow of the
car, the car bean a four passenger
Durant 6 coupe. The other two
occupants of th car suffered , a
shaking up and ome bruises. The
little girl,was taken to Mr. John Me-
Ewen's house where Dr. Hyndman.
and Dr. Dougall were called. The
child 'was later removed to London.
The car, after striking the post,
broke out in flames which were put
out with dust from the road. On
Monday the car was brought to Hen -
sell for repairs. • As ^a consequence
of the broken pole, the hydro was
off for an hour or so Sunday even-
ing but a crew of hydro linemen -put
in a new pole on Monday.

BOUNDARY WINS CUP •
Boundary won the South. Perth U.
F. 0, baseball championship for
1925, and the Peter Smith cup at the
U,F.O. field day at Carlingford on
Saturday by virtue of their 7-2 vic-
tory over Salem. Fullerton, league
leaders and twice champions, refus-
ed to play owing -to differences with
the league executive, thus making it.
necessary for Salem and the Boun-
dary to pi;ay' a . sudden death game
for the cup. Lloyd' Venner pitched
a good game for the Boundary and
received splendid, support, only one
error being chalked up behind .him.
Berry, Salem hurler, pitched a steady
game but his eupport was rather
shaky at times, although two fast
double plays cut Boundary rallies.
In the preliminaries Carlingford beat
Avonton but were defeated in the
play-off by, Motherwell. ` Boundary
now enters the' Ontario finals.

MITCHELL WINS TOURNAMENT
Thames Road Wins in. Softball
Mitchell won the baseball tourna-
ment
ournament at Staffa on Wednesday after-
noon. The weather was fine and a
large crowd r, was present and wit-
nessed some: fine games of ball. The,
first game" was played between Mit-
chell and the Boundary and was won
by Mitchell 2-1, the game going
eleven innings. Kerslake brothers'
were the . battery for the Boundary.
For the second game -Motherwell de-
feated Fullerton 7 to 2. Lawson
pitched for Motherwell and, 'Young
for Fullerton. The play-off for
honors was between Mitchell and
Motherwell 1Vritchell winning by a
score of 7-6. Lawson pitched the
first five innings,for Motherwell and
Berry finished the game.-
' In the girls' softball tournament
'Thames Road won from Staffa 16 to
14; Cromarty defeated Chiselhurst
18 to 13 and in the play-off Thames
Mad beat Cromarty 42 to 17.

and Mrs. Jose, Kirkton was a recent
graduate of the University of Wes-
tern Ontario.': He received the 'de-
gree
de -gree of Bachelor of Arts in the hon-
or Science Course in 1922 and his
M.D. this spring and successfully
passed the examination of the Medi-
cal Council of Canada. Dr. Jose
received his preparatory education
in the Kiirkton Public and St. Marys
Collegiate Institute. g net tete. During the
course in Arts he won two scholar-
ships in Honor Biology. His popu-
larity with his fellow students was
evidenced by his election to the pre-
sidency of the Historial Society. Last
year he was on the staff of Victoria
Hospital, London and is remaining
there for another year.

1Vfr. Bert Snell, of Toledo, Ohio,
was a pleasant caller at the Times-
Advocate on Thursday. Mr. Snell
accompanied by his wife was on kis
way to Clinton to attend the Old
Boys' reunion. He is an Exeter Old
Boy, having left here 48 years ago.'
