Couple not fearful but will be careful From Pope 1 congregation would be afraid of missing something different from the second service and would stay .for both anyway. coming long distances in rickshaw or by foot each Sunday. "We will be kept busy each Sunday either preaching in the compound church or the outlying churches." said Mrs. Hauser. "They are poor people from the countryside." said Mr. Hauser. He said -most of the congregation are farmers producing cotton and peppers or are fishermen. Mrs. Hauser .said offerings to the church can be anything from chickens to a basket of fruit and when the church was expanding to house the growing congregations. she said people brought what jewelry they had to help support the expansion. Mrs. Hauser said the area is primitive and while the compound is safe and clean. they will be escorted everywhere they go by staff in either the compound's rickshaw or the jeep. when it is running. "They won't let us go alone outside the compound." said Mr. Hauser although the couple isn't sure how unsafe the area will be for them. The compound also had a water buffalo for milk but as the buildings expanded, they had to sell it because there wasn't enough grass for the animal to graze. In addition to ministering to people. India for Christ also operates an orphanage on the compound with 50 boys living there. The orphanage. through its school. also gives the compound ties to the Indian government which provides the teachers for the orphans. Before they leave. the Hausers hope to generate enough donations for t -shirts to give to the children at Christmas. a tradition at the orphanage. The Hausers, will stay for six months at a time, the maximum they are allowed to stay by the Indian government without having to give up their Canadian citizenship. Going for only six months a year was the only reason Mrs. Hauser said her children agreed with them going on a mission. The couple will be moving to a new•house in the London area. closer to their daughter, who will look after their home for them each time they are gone. Because the Seaforth congregation was small, with about 25 members, the Hausers didn't think it was large enough to bring a new pastor to town and closed the church after the last Sunday in May. r nuegerild ,. e4 , at" el "dP7Z" TRAERRIES tiffs • HOURS: (weather & produce permrtbng( • Mon to Fri • 8 to 8 Sat 8 to 4 -Sun 910 3 H.., #S. 2 mile- north of Littler 1519) 235-1.91 Pick Your Own - Ready Picked 'Custom Orders .Paced at least one day ahead • Same Clay orders a:c led &tier 12 noon sut4ect to avaeabhy of ready pcked • NOT AVAILABLE ON SUNDAY %i•it I r tater In Thr Sra.on For: Black Currants • Pickling Beets • Green & Yellow Beans L ' • Rhubarb • Tomatoes J Mr. Hauser said the congregation has been integrating itself into other churches in the community and the couple will also be attending other church services until they move from Seaforth in July. "Only God knows what has been accomplished through our ministry here." said Mr. Hauser. They sold the furnishings to another church being established in the London area and are using that money to help fund India for Christ.
