White sang a solo in excellent voice

Miss Bessie Hartnoll, of Toronto,
is visiting her cousin Mr. and Mrs.
Jas. Jewell. Mr. Jewell is, able to be'
up and around with the' aid of a
crutch.
Mrs. Wiggins and two children of
Clinton visited for several days dur-
ing the week with Mrs. Lockwood,
who has been indisposed. '
Master Rowe Dinney was struck
by a car onn"'Main St. Saturday last
and knocked down, ' but fortunately
escaped with only a few bruises.

fined to his horse with a broken leg

Mrs. Robt. Stonehouse. and two
children of Belgrave; Mr. and Mrs,
Hy. McGuire, of Belgrave and Mr.
and Mrs. Arthur Blay and babe, of

alleged professional men and women
in Ontario who call themselves
"doctor," so the legislature has
passed an act which distinctly 'Stat-
es that only graduates_ of orthodox
medical colleges, and who have been
approved by the Ontario Medical
Council, shall be permitted, to use
the prefix.
Mr. W. L. Fraser, the well-known
horseman at Forest, sold the cele-
brated pacing gelding, `,`Norman
Gratton" to Mr. Jas. Gleason of
New York State" for the handsome
figure of $10,000. This horse which.
is a 4 -year-old has made a wonder-
ful showing at• the Grand' Circuit
races this year, and was bred and
raised till two years old' by Mr. John
Desker, Jro, near Zurich, the well
known horse breeder.
