New bowlers bowl free in June
The Seaforth
Lawn Bowling
club officially
opened the season
Seaforth Lownbowling Club
on May 22 with Fred Tilley welcoming
bowlers to the first jitney of the Millennium
Year 2000.
At 2 p.m. 24 bowlers played in doubles and
winners were: ladies. 1st - Mary Finlayson;
2nd - Donna Beuerman. Men's 1st - Art
Finlayson: 2nd -Erich Matzold; 3rd- George
Ribey.
Hostesses for the evening were Bea Stoll.
Bessie Boyd and Grace B.
At 5:30 p.m: Bea Stoll welcomed more
than 30 members and associates to the -
potluck supper. Following supper, six tables
of euchre were in play and winners were'.

tickets. high - Bob Argyle;,lone hands - Mary
Finlayson; consolation - Carol Baker.
Strawberry Social planned
as Seniors' Month activity
The next
potluck supper
• with euchre and
• bowling after will
be June 27 at 6 p.m. Hostesses will be
Isabelle Hunt and Marie Thomas.
A reminder to all new bowlers, the month
of June is free to try the game. Bowls are
.available at the club house. New members
just need to wear flat soled shoes.
Bowling in the Bankers Tournament in
Clinton on Saturday Jack and Marie Muir
were successful in winning three games and
first prize. Also from Seaforth were Lee Ryan
and Thelma Coombs who placed second.
On June 3 the District Fours will be played
at the Seaforth Greens at 10 a.m. The District
Four ladies who won last year went on to win
..the gold medal at the Canadian
Championships so we wish them well again
this year.

' Alice Brothers entertain with
classical music duets for our
Mother's Day Program.:
Fancy sandwiches and
punch were served following
the program to all our guests.
Residents were happy to.
have their first BBQ of the
season. Our weekly. outdoor
BBQ lunches will begin next
month;
A "Happy Hour" was held
,prior to celebrating the long -
we,ekend. A variety of wines
andhors d'oeuvres were"
enjoyed. -Some brave
residents even sampled our
:limburger cheese and onion
canapes. -

SPS are lots of fun.
The monthly program
from the children of the
Seaforth Nursery School
entertains and enlivens all
who attend.
Oatmeal and peanut butter
cookies were baked by the
Baking Club and enjoyed. for

playing the piano as well as
our "Celebrate Canada"
party on June 30, from 2 to 4
p.m. on our front lawn
featuring. the Seaforth
District High School All
Girls Marching Band.
We will be having a
ribbon -cutting ceremony to
officially dedicate our
Heritage Garden. in honour
of Canada Day July 1. •
