Huron County has received
confirmation that the -9-1-1
emergency response -system
'wilt l+e.in place by Sept. 6.
"That's- the date • we
anticipate having 9-1-1 up
':.and running." said county
engineer Sandra Lawson:
"I know it seems like -it's
been forever since we put up
the signs." Lawson said
, adding that the process of
implementing 9-1-1 can take
a long time as those involved
"tql to get all the errors out."
Adding that it is all -of the -
little items that slow down
the process. she gave an
example of a few errors or
discrepancies 'that have been
caught and have to b,e
corrected before. 9-1-1 is
implemented.
She cited. for example. the
.fact that Short Horn. the
name used for a road that
travels._e.ast-west through'
Tuckersmith and Stanley
Townships. is spelled
diffe'ently in each township.
"It is two words in Stanley,
and . only one in
Tuckersmith." she said,
adding that in order to get
the system in place. the two
spellings will have to match.
Another example she-.
shared was with the spelling.
of Londesborough.. or•
Londesboro. With two
different spellings in use for
the village. sh'e said that
municipality would have to
make their choice, and then
the same spelling will be
used in the data base. on
. signs and on maps.
'Before the program is
officially launched. Lawson
said there •will be much
information shared with the
public.'" Before Sept. 6. we
-will be doing a major
.advertising campaign," she
said; adding that children
from,Junior Kindergarten to
Grade 2 will also be exposed
to a 9-1-1 program,.i n the
schools. •
With all, indicators pointing
to the program beginning on ..
time, she. said, "Bell's very
happy with what's going on."

semi -fin game, the squad
was pi ainst hometown
rivals the armerettes, who
also play. in the Seaforth
Egmortdville broomball
league. Elliott summarized the
game as follows: "Always a
rough game when the two

was no exception. We were
both playing for the pride of
Ontario. Our first goal was
scored by Michelle Choma.
After they tied it up. we sat
back on our heels and they
took advantage, taking a 2=1,
lead. On a pretty passing.play.
Mary Jean Verbeek, put .the
ball in the net to tie. Marj

with a goal in the dying
minutes of the game." The
team's game MVP was
Choma.
With the 3-2 victory over
their rivals, Parr Line moved
on to. the B Division final.

the gold. For this final, they
were again pitted against
Quebec's Normandian team.
"After "losing -to them in
pool play earlier that week. we.
were looking to avenge the
loss. Unfortunately, we came.
up short,". Elliott wrote.
"Quebec scored early and we
played catch-up for most of
the game. The week had taken
its. toll on all players. Bumps.
bruises and even broken bones
were adding up."
Verbeek scored late in the
second for Parr Line to send
the game into overtime, where -
