brokenness and life to the
several people who came to
the Thursday evening Lenten
Talk Series at St. Columhan
Church Hall. ,
Pointing .to a crucifix atop
a piece of rock .salt, we were
reminded that during this
time of Lent, we reflect as
Christians on Jesus, on His
life and. death, and how, as
His followers, we too can
expect suffering.

prepares
for annual
meeting
Seaforth W.I.
Seaforth Women's Institute
held its March 14 meeting at
the home of Betty Hulley.
Marion Gordon. president,
welcomed everybody and
gave a reading; "Spring
Fling."
Roll call was answered by
nine members.
Minutes of the last meeting
were read by Betty Hulley.
The District • Annual
meeting is on May 18 in
Dashwood at 6 p.m.
The District picnic is on
July 4 at Crediton.
The quilt will be quilted
this week.
The treasurer's report was
given by Helen MacKenzie.
The next meeting is on
April 11. The annual meeting
will he held at the. Seaforth
Manor. ,
The•nominating committee
report was given by Jean
Keyes for the officers
standing committee for 2000
to 2001.
The meeting was turned
over to Clarissa Stewart. She
gave some readings and
conducted a contest.
Lunch was served by the
hostesses Marion Gordon
and Olive Papple.
Helen MacKenzie thanked
Betty for having the meeting.

Auxiliary provided prizes
and assistance at bingo on
Monday afternoon for an
excellent turnout of residents.
Pastor Harold Shantz of
Zurich Mennonite Church
led worship service Tuesday
afternoon with Belva Fuss as
organist.
Edna Dietz and Betty
Simmons travelled with the
tuck cart on Wednesday
afternoon.
Thursday afternoon found
residents competing at
crokinole and checkers in the
sun room. in the evening.
Queensway Retirement
Home resident. Mary Keys
hosted a special birthday
party for her daughter.
Shirley. complete with 22
guests.
St. Patrick's Day was
celebrated at Queensway
with an Irish quiz, a video
about Ireland. as well as an
evening of Irish music with
Gary Boyle. singer/guitarist
of London. Refreshments
including creme de menthe
ended an enjoyable day.

and The Merrymakers.
