6 -THE HURON EXPOSITOR, March 22, 2000 News Councils begin work forming Huron East Provincial approval expected any day ahead and form the transition board. So far, at least five other restructuring plans in Huron County have received provincial approval to proceed and Watson said, "Ours is next on the list:" He said if there were any concerns about the restructuring proposal, the municipalities would have heard about it by now and been asked to make changes. Since there have been no questions or concerns, they decided to form the transition board so they can begin preparing to create the new municipality. While the plan is in place and expected to be.approved, the transition board now has the detailed task of making it all fit together, fine tuning how the entire, new municipality of Huron East will operate from how to treat reserve funds to how to operate the utilities in Seaforth and Brussels. At its first meeting, the board divided into, two 'committees: property and administration. Administration will be handle such tasks as determining staffing needs, job descriptions and salary grids.' The property committee will look at such areas as the existing _ administration offices. If their application is successful, Nesbitt said the SDCC should know in June if it will be hosting the event. "The really positive part is everybody is at the table in there to get it done," said Watson. Chairs for the meetings will rotate from each of the municipalities. Watson said 'there are no major issues between any of the municipalities to create any friction -as they start working out the details for how Huron East will operate. 1 "Everybody is wanting to work together and make it happen," said Watson, adding they have a good team to work with. He can't anticipate antrouble spots or complicated areas the team might run into as they begin working out the restructuring propoal: One of the team's first combined tasks is going to be to determine a mission statement for Huron East.
