HomeMy WebLinkAboutHuron Expositor, 2000-03-22, Page 3OPP reports Rear window smashed in trailer The rear window of 'a trailer on Vanastra Road in Tuckersmith Township was smashed while a couple was sitting inside on March 11. The two were sitting inside at 6:45 p.m. when they heard three loud bangs and the sound of breaking glass. They found the large rear window had been broken but no one could be seen in the area. Impaired driver charged in crash A 51 -year-old Dublin area man was charged with a drinking and driving offence after a single vehicle accident in Tuckersmith _ Township March 10. Police were called to a crash on Concession 2/3 of Tuckersmith, near the Seaforth Golf and Country Club after the driver had lost control of his Chevrolet Blazer and lost control of the vehicle, striking a hydro pole. A passing motorist stopped to help and took the driver to the hospital for medical assistance. When OPP arrived, the officer noticed the odour of alcohol on the drivers breath and arrested him for having care and control of the vehicle while impaired by alcohol. He refused to provide a breath sample to the • police and was charged with both having care and control of a vehicle while impaired and for failing to provide a breath sample. He appears in Goderich court on May 7. Key may have been used to steal $150 of pop from machines It is believed that a key was used to enter three pop machines outside of Knechtels Grocery Story in Seafonh. $150 in change was stolen from two Pepsi and one Coke machine. Anyone knowing of someone with a large amount of change. is asked to notify the Seaforth OPP or contact Crimestoppers. Jim Kelly dies at 90 Scaforth lost one of its residents on one of his favourite days. Jim Kelly. 90. died ,at Maplewood Manor on St. Patrick's Day. March 17: a day Kelly faithfully expressed himself as Irish with everything from a flashing green howtic to Irish buttons and anything green. Kelly would appear for an annual photograph at The Huron Expositor, dressed in his best Irish wardrobe each year. But last year: when arriving to have the traditional photograph taken, he told The Expositor it would he his last St. Patrick's Day photograph. Mass of Christian Burial was held March 20 at St. James Roman Catholic Church. Kelly is survived by his wife, Marie, children Mary Margaret Nash of Seaforth and Rose Marie and her husband Greg Bell of Huron Park and grandchildren Anthony Pickering.
