Questions & Answers
about grief recovery*
Q. 1 am several months put my loss now. Most days I.do very
well. Then all of a sudden I become overwhelmed. is this
normal?
A. Certainly. Grief can be analogous to waves hitting on the shore.
At first, the waves are large and powerful and they knock us
down. As we work through our grief, the waves begin to subside
to a degree. When we haven't noticed any waves for a while, we .
know that we are jucceeding in rebuilding our lives. If we know
this is normal and part of our grief process, we can recover from
the waves sooner and leam to expect fewer of them in our future.

organized with the help of Donna Feore,
Corm's wife, and award winning
choreographer at the Stratford Festival.
The event'promises to be an evening
of special entertainment. Highlights will
include music by David Keeley, of the
Keeley -Paul Gross singing duo Two
Houses, a song or two from Stratford
Festival actress Barbara Fulton and a
dramatic reading by Goldie Semple and
Lorne Kennedy. Steve Adair, Scott
Matthews and Paul Shilton will
perform, as will Eric Coates and Lorne
Kennedy who will read a scene from
The Drawer Boy by Michael Healey.
The Drawer Boy won audience and
critical acclaim with Toronto audiences
last year and earned a Governor
General's award. Eric, who is directing
The Drawer Boy at the Blyth Festival
this summer, is the parent of two
Falstaff school students.
He notes, "The school has a great
resource of parents who are theatre
people," adding that the cabaret night is
a way that parents can do something
positive for the school and education in
Huron and Perth.
Falstaff Public School is located in the
heart of downtown Stratford and
accommodates 100 students from
Kindergarten to Grade 6. It is one of
seven schools named for possible
closure in the Avon -Maitland school
district.
Eric notes. "So many parents are
committed to this
school.Neighbourhood schools are very
important and we are working hard to
keep our downtown active."
The cabaret night will celebrate the
arts and the school community. Eric
adds, "All of us are militant about
keeping the arts alive in schools. We're
sending out the message that we can do
something positive in a difficult
situation."
The evening is a talent and auction
event. As well as his role as host for
Artists for the Arts. Colm Feore will test
his auctioneering skills with an auction
of over 30 items. Many auction items
have been donated by parents and
community supporters including singing
lessons, swing dance lessons. maple
syrup, handcrafts, theatre tickets. Naked
goods, gardening supplies and gift
certificates.
Money raised from the cabaret will be
shared by Falstaff School and the Avon -
Maitland School Board's Foundation for
Enriching Education Perth -Huron. The
education foundation provides funds for
arts and other areas to complement core
programming in Huron and Perth
schools, says Lynda Lentil -McGregor of
the foundation. •
Last year the foundation took the
