Six thre• e-inch binders of
information and two big
boxes of schoolboard
agendas are now in the hands
of lawyers but Charles Smith
says he's still not certain
when papers will be served
againstthc `Avon Maitland
District School Board:
-It's a conundrum." he
says.."in our heart of hearts,
we hope the trustees will 'Yee
the light and make the action
unnecessary. We decided to
give the board a chance to act
in a reasonable fashion and
delay the action.-
As
ction.'As president -of the
Seaforth District High
.School Student Success
Foundation. Smith• has-been
collecting money from the.
community for possible legal
action against the Avon
Maitland board. which is in
the process of studying_
v hether- or not- it will close
seven district schools. three
of which are. in the Seaforth
area.
Smith says the moment a
decisionis made lo close
Seaforth District High
School. legal action will
be -gin against the board.
"i have this feeling we're
going to have. to "go to court.
It's very discouraging." says
Smith. "We have to be ready
in anticipation of a decision

'There • were 643

Dcichiarp says only half of
the final number signed the

Dietz. says it's neither affordable-.rr
desirable to build a fence around the
cemetery and lock the public out.
"A fence would only make it .more of a
challenge for people to get in. Besides. a
cemetery is a peaceful place and we want
people to feel welcome to -visit," he says.
• OPP and the Egmondville Cemetery board
are asking neighbours of the cemetery to.
observe and record information about- any
vehicles or activity they may see around the
cemetery and report them to the police.
