Annual 4-H awards day winners edan Cree
Members from 4-H clubs
from across Huron County
gathered at St. Anne's
Catholic Secondary School
recently for the annual 4-H
Awards Day Program.
Following is a list of award
winners.
The Bank of Montreal
award is given to the first
year 4-H Swine Club
member with the highest
score. This year's winner was
Brad Kroes with a score of
823 out of a possible 1,000.
The Ed Watson Award is
donated by Ed Watson of
Blyth to the 4-11 members
with the Champion 4-H
Market Pig at the Seaforth
Fall Fair. The recipient was
Allan Storey.
The Huron County Pork
Producers' Award is donated
by the Huron County Pork
Producers' Association to the
member obtaining the
highest score in the 4-H
Swine Club. Brett Bean with
a score of 868 out of a
possible 1,000 received the
award.
The Bank of Nova Scotia
Award is presented to the
Champion 4-H Swine
Showman at the'Seaforth Fall
Fair. This year's winner was
Brett Bean.
John Storey received the
Huron County Pork
Producers' Award for being
the Reserve Champion
Showman at the Seaforth Fall
Fair.
The Bergsma Award is
donated by Bruce and Marie
Bergsma and family of
Londesboro to the 441 swine
club member exhibiting the
Champion 4-H Gilt at the
Seaforth Fall Fair. Robbie
Archambault was this year's
winner.
David VandenHoven was
the winner of the Vincent
Farm Equipment Ltd. of
Seaforth trophy for being the
top member in the Huron 4 -
Agricultural Machinery
Club.
The Huron County
Federation of Agriculture
Award is donated by the
Huron County Federation of
Agriculture to the top novice
Agricultural Machinery Club
member. This year's winner
was Derek Van Dieten.
During 1975 a fund was
established to help provide
assistance to the 4-H
programs in Huron County.
Sincere appreciation was
extended to the individuals
and organizations for their
outstanding support to the
"Friend of 4-14 Fund" in
1999. Certificates or seals
were presented to the

Signal -Star Publishing of
Godcrich is the sponsor of
the 441 Press Reporter
Competition. The first place
press reporter hook was
submitted by Shawn Drost of
Clinton I and he received
515 from Signal -Star
Publishing. Second place was
awarded to Suzannc
Coleman of the Huron Sheep
Club and she received S10.
Jill McCullough and
Maurissa Meyers of Clinton
1 received S5 for their third
place finish.
The Vincent Farm
Equipment trophy went to
the club that had the lop
educational display at the
Seaforth Fall Fair. The
winning display in 1999 was
entered by the St. Columban
Club.
The Canadian Imperial
Bank of Commerce, Huron
County branches, donate an
award for the top judge at the
Huron County 4-H Judging
Competition. This year's
winner was Sandra Alton.
The top senior judge at this
years judging competition
was Sandra Alton who
received the Hill and Hill
Farms Ltd. Award.
The Cargill Limited Award
for the high intermediate
judge at the county judging
competition was presented to
Sarah Broadfoot.
Derek VanDieten was the
winner of he Hill and Hill
Farms Ltd. Award for being
the high junior judge at the
county judging competition.
The Hensall District
Cooperative, Seaforth and
Londesboro branches,
donated an award to the top
novice judge at the county
judging competition held in
Seaforth in August and it was
awarded to Jeff Bylsma.
Members of the winning
team in the county judging
competition were Brent
Black, Jeff Bylsma, Thomas
Deuschle and Curtis McNeil
and they were awarded the
Watson Home Hardware
Team Judging Competition
Award.
Cargill Limited presents a
watch to each member of the
winning team at the Huron
County "Go For the Gold"
competition. This year's
winning team were members
of the Huron Sheep Club.
They are Tim Devereaux,
Shawn Drost, Tonya Drost
and Robyn Etherington.
The Toronto -Dominion
Bank Award is presented to
the Champion Sweepstakes
Showman at the Seaforth Fall
Fair and was donated by the
Seaforth Branch of the
Toronto -Dominion Bank.
This year's winner was
Thomas Deuschle.
The late Stan Jackson was
a noted Herford breeder from
Kippen who left a substantial
amount of money in a trust
fund for the Huron County 4-
H beef clubs participating in
the Seaforth Junior Fair.
Each year the interest from
this fund is used for prize
money. Jessica, Gilchrist
exhibited the Grand
Champion Beef Steer at the
Seaforth Fall Fair and she
received a coin set and $100.
Bryon Ellerington exhibited
the Reserve Champion Beef
Steer at the Seaforth Fall Fair
and received $75. The third
place exhibiter was Brad
Gilchrist who received $50.
Andrew Toll exhibited the
fourth place steer and he
received $25. Doug Johnston
exhibited the Champion
Heifer at the Seaforth Fall
Fair and he received a coin
set plus $100. The Reserve
Champion Heifer was
exhibited by Brent Black
who received $75. Dennis
Gower received $50 for his
third place heifer exhibited at
the Seaforth Fall Fair. Corey
Rintoul had the fourth place
heifer and he received 525.
Mike Bean received S 100 for
his high score in the Huron
County beef clubs. He had
911 points out of a possible
1,000.
The Hensall District Co-op
donates an award to the club
exhibiting the top exhibit of
winter wheat at the Seaforth
Fair. This year that award
was won by Seaforth 1.
The Huron County Soil
and Crop Improvement
Award is donated to the top
club exhibit of first cut hay at
the Seaforth Fall Fair. This
year the the winner was the
Huron Sheep Club.
The Cook's Division of
Parrish and Heimbecker Ltd.
Trophy is donated by Cooks
to the club with the
champion white been exhibit
at the Seaforth Fall Fair. The
1999 winner was the
Seaforth 1 club.
First Line Seeds Award is
donated by First Line Seeds
for the champion soybean at
the Seaforth Fall Fair. The
Huron Sheep Club was the
winner.
Les and John Coleman of
Kippen presented the award
to the club exhibiting the
champion haylage at the
Seaforth Junior Fair., The
1999 winner was the Huron
Sheep Club.
The Russell T. Bolton
Memorial Trophy is donated
by the Bolton family in
memory of Russell Bolton of

Clinton Police Services Board
The three-member Clinton Police Services Board meets
as required and works with the Ontario Provincial Police
in setting policing priorities for the community. A small
annual honorarium will be paid by the municipality.
Candidates should have an understanding of policing
issues, experience in policy-making, good written and
verbal communications skills, volunteer work in
community organizations, and knowledge of the Town
of Clinton.
Any resident of the Town of Clinton interested in serving
as a provincially -appointed member of the Police

Following the ceremony. guests gathered at the Maloney farm and later a
dinner and reception was held at the Seaforth Community Centre. -
The couple honeymooned in Puerto Vatarta. Mexico, and currently reside
at RR 01 Atwood. We extend a heartfelt thane you to everyone for marking
our day so special.
