Fourteen, candidates handed out tags, put up posters and delivered speeches in front of the school. (:rade 5 to 8 voted: Here are the four candidates who arenow the students' council of Huron Centennial: President. Denise Carnochan: Vice President. Brittany Williams: Treasurer. Brock Smith: Secretary. Rommert Stecnheek. Room representatives were elected •in each classroom from Grade 5 to 8: Mrs. Cooper 7/8..Kyle Courtney: Mrs. io►ckwood 6/7. Josh Smith: Mrs. Thomas 5/6, Scott Wilson: Mrs. McClinchey 5. Matt Chaput. • international Plowing Match '99 • in September. the (;rade 3-8 went_ to the Piowing Match. The school put on a showcase of entertainers for one part of the afternoon. The junior and senior choirs sang separate songs and then together in -mass choir. There were also some smaller- acts put on hy some senior students. Denise Carnochan who is in Grade 8 did a solo. Brock Smith' and Rebecca Wright also in Grade -8 did a yr cal .and guitar duet.. and Shannon Dawn Cooper and Randi-Lyn Wilson hoth•in Grade 7 tap-danced.. Most classes did a follow up after the excursion. ' Some of the things we learned about at the match are farm machinery. agriculture and technology on the farm - Huron Centennial's Anti -Bullying Workshop • in late October a group of .six students. a boy and a girl from Grades 6.7 and 8. departed from our school and made a long trek u'p•to Orillia where they stayed for three days at a Leadership camp called," Cuuch-a-Ching." There. they learned from many. fun activities Tike games.. song and workshops how to. stop or prevent hullying at •or around our school and • - After this camp. the• students that had gone taught a group of other students: that were nominated hy their teacher. because of their leadership qualities. Along with this group. the students.counc.il came to help Out for the next three workshops that we were going-to/dor for. our •junior. intermediate •and senior grades. .These workshops consisted of .video,. skits. many worksheets and colour 'activities for the bus families. Joel Boughen. Josh Bchnish. Luke- • Crper. and Meghan Camphell. • Tech 21 - Jill . Every month Grades.7•and 8 go to -Central Huron Secondary School for Tech 21. Three teachers. Mrs. Speed. Mrs. Talbot • and. Mr. Brooks, assist the students with the many -Different modules. some of which include Fashion Desi_n..Lifc •Management and Food and Nutrition. Grade its• went on Oct.- 22 lot:22 and the Grade 7s went on Oct.'25. Beauty and the Beast -•• Oct. 14. the Grade 3 and 3.studcnts went to ace Beauty and the Beast at the. Blyth Theatre. They left the" school immediately following morning announcements and did not return. until just before lunch. Both students and teachers alike thoroughly enjoyed the production. • - Rememhrance•Days ' •- • - - On Nov. 8th and 9th. Grades 5. tog went to a- Remc mbranc e . Day activity at the Goderich Museum. The Senior Soccer Tournament: which • consisted of six Birk teams and sax hogs trams. was held on Oct. 14 The ,1:1. • turned out to he calm and sunny and was quite snccesu nt with boys and girls winning 2nd place in their categories All the kids were grateful to have such great coaching with Blaine Doman yolunterring to help coach the Senior Carl. and - help the Sensor Boys.
