Centenaires gain a point in overtime loss

• A great effort on the
weekend had Seaforth losing
two games. but still gaining a
point from an overtime loss
to Mount Brydges.
The overtime game against
Mount Brydges on Friday
night had aliinal score of 4-3.
Saturday's loss was in Port
Stanley with a Final score of
3-2.
,Seaforth t' he point
on Frid .o a rule.
adopted by the NHL for the
first time this year, where any
team going into overtime
automatically gets one point.
Winners in overtime will
receive two points.
The game on Friday
marked the second overtime
loss that Seaforth has had
this year. The first one came
in a game against North
Middlesex. Seaforth has
received half of their points
this year thanks to overtime
games.
"Seaforth's only win has
come against Exeter, but the
team looks like it is starting
to come around." said Dave
Parsons, manager of the
Centenaires.
"We had good games on
the weekend. and Mount
Brydges and Port Stanley arc
two of the top teams in the
league." said Parsons.
Seaforth plays against
Belmont this Friday and in
North Middlesex on
Saturday. Both teams have
under 10 points and.are at the
bottom of their respective

student Steph Dale will have to
work very hard if she wants to
go. to the Olympics someday.
she learned recently ai the
Ontario Olympic Youth
Academy. .•
"If I were to choose a team to
join in the Olympics. it would
likely he the Canadian soccer
team. ' said Dale. •
Dale recently attended a
leadership conference that
teaches teenagers about the
Olympics. The conference was
held at Muskoka Woods resort
on Lake Russau. and ran Oct.
14 - 17.
Dale heard about the camp
through Terry Johnston, a
teacher at SDHS. who gave her
a pamphlet so she could apply.
There were 411 students chosen
from across Ontario.
Former Olympic athletes
came to the conference to talk
to the teens about the Olympics.
Among the athletes were
members of the Canadian
women's hockey team. long-
distance runner Graham Hood.
gymnast Janine Rankin and
paralympic athlete. Rob Snoek.
Workshops were held so the
Olympians could tell everyone
about their past experiences.
Dr. Andrew Pipe also attended
the conference to talk about
drugs that are used by athletes.
and their effects.
Dale said she was surprised
to hear that even some over-the-
counter cold medicines were
