Walker, Exeter North, suffered a stroke of paralysis on Sunday morning last. Mr. and Mrs. J, L. Lewis and Thelma, spent the week -end at St. Thomas and London. Batson, of the Market Branch of the Canadian Bank of Commerce, Toronto, is relieving at the Exeter branch. Miss Anna 'Bell and Miss Pearl Duncan are spending a few days in Detroit, going on the steamer Grey- hound from Goderich. Mr. H. Bowers, M. A., teacher in the Exeter H. S. has secured from the Toronto University the degree of Bachelor of Pedagogy. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Paul and two daughters Janette and Marion of Sarnia, spent Sunday with Messrs. Lloyd and William Fraser. ' Miss Florence Dinney has accept- ed a position as clerk with the Cowan Hardware Co., London, hav- ing commenced her duties, Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Geddes and son Wm. of London, spent a few days in Exeter and attended the Moon family picnic at Grand Bend on Sat- urday. Mrs. Frank Mallett returned home Sunday after spending several days in London where she underwent an X -Ray examination for stomach trouble. Miss L. • M. Jeckell is attending a convention of the Presbyterian W.M. S. which is meeting in Toronto in conjunction with the Presbyterian Assembly. Mr. J. B. Broadfoot, of Guelph, and Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Broadfoot of Ottawa, were here over' the week -end- owing to the death of their sister, Mrs. L. T. Rutherford. Mrs. Hubert Johnston of Chicago and Mrs. M. Prestore of Detroit vis- ited their cousin, Mr. R. Welsh while here attending the funeral of the late Mr. Manning. Next Sunday in Main St. church the Inauguration service fo the United Church will be held. Special services both morning and evening to which the public is cordially in- vited. Mr. Rd. Coates of Usborne and Mr. S. M. Sanders, were in Goderich as members of the Grand Jury. Messrs. Geo. Coward, Jas Cottle and J. Brock of Usborne, were called as members of the Petit jury. Rev. A. A. Morlock of Aurora, Ill., called on Mrs. Lydia Sweitzer of town. Mr. and Mrs. A.
