On Saturday, the/ annul Fall Scramble took place with,
• teams competing from all acrioss Southwestern Ontario.
The winning -team was composed of Brent Taylor. Ross
MacDonald. David Anthony and Rick t=;:lion. who shot an
incredible 19 under par to win by three stroke. ()ter the rest
'of the field.
In spite of excellent weather and -local knowledge. none of
the lied teams excelled in the event. Nevertheless. it was a ' 1'
reat day kir all involved.
Sunday and Monday also turned hut. to he great days Tor
golf. and many Of our locals ,came Out to enjoy the sunshine
anti warm breezes. •
Putting is'often a challenge at this time of year because
litany of pur-grcens become blanketed is illi the autumn
leaves. Even the early morning leaf blowing crew {an't_heIp
the golters•who play Tater in the day.
The leaves toss and swirl their way hack onto the greens. A 1
path has to be prepared before nearly any putt can he made..
This takes time and patience is essential at this time of year..
Remember that there is no penalty for accidentally moyi g.
your hall during the act of searching for it. You just replace it
and carry on from there. -
Many courses recommend the :'local leaf rule"' at this time
of. year t(i speed up play., If you see your golf hall head into a
leafy area and cannot find it within the five minutes allow%ed.'
thenyou can drop another without penalty and proceed: '
Remember. this is for casual golf only and it a temporary
--condition. -
For many golfers. fall golf can be the most enjoyable time
of•Ihe year to play: It's a great time to bird watch, catch some
sun, fresh air and exercise. Work on some aspect of your golf
game. and lengthen the Canadian summer. Come nut and
enjoy. •
