Hall on Saturday evening in War-

The School of Commerce, Clinton
had the pleasure recently of
presenting to Miss Mary McCowan,
of Seaforth, Ont., a Gold Medal
awarded, by the'Remington Type Co.
for proficiency in Typewriting, on
new work, for ten minutes at a rate
of 55 words a minute with not more
than five 'errors. Miss McCowan
exceeded this standing by writing
at 60 words a • minute absolutely
without' error. This record was
'considered so exceptional and com-
mendable that letters were received
from the managers of both the Lon-
don and Toronto Offices of the Rem-
ington Co., congratulating both the
School and the student on the MC-
CellenCY of the work.

and Dashwood resulted in the visit-
ors being outscored, the score was
9-8 in favor of Crediton, a number

if he had had good support it could

due to play here next Thursday ev-

here this week looking the situation
over with a view of opening up a
fine general store. They intend to
either rent Mr. Millson's present
stare building or get enough land to
build a new one. It will be fully

Mr. Geo. W. Wren had the raise
fortune to have his leg broken on:
Friday morning last. He had riden
a horse to the pasture field with the
cattle when he had the misfortun.e
to be thrown from the horse's back
with the above result. He was in
the field for three or four hours
when his calls for help were heard
