Autumn golfing offers many advantages
As we swing into the
autumn golf season and
the days get shorter it's
important to remember
that there is still a lot of
golf time left before the
clubs get stashed away for '
another winter.
The- advantages of
autumn golf are numerous
and for many gojfers, this
is their favourite time -of
year to play.
The- hot' and humid
summer weather, for the
most part, is behind us.
Crisper mornings and
cooler breezes allow for
.more comfortable golf and
walking. the course
becomes a part of the fall
'fitness regimen: Wearing a
wind- shirt or your
favourite golf sweater will
keep you comfortable until
the sun warms up, so keep
it handy in your golf bag.
Don't forget that you will
still need some sunscreen
on your face right through
the fall. -
The goJlt;, courses are
generally quieter in the
autumn, especially during
the weekdays: The juniors
are back at school, the

weekdays. Check area
newspapers and golf
publications -for this
information. - -
This is the perfect time
of year if you're
considering purchasing
new or used equipment or
taking some lessons to
improve your game. Many
golf shops will be
discounting their
equipment and clothing so
they•won't have to carry it
over the winter. Great
deals are out there and.
there is still enough season
left for you to use the new
equipment and get used to
it before next spring.
This is especially
important to competitive
golfers who don't want to

.be changing equipment in
mid season. .
The golf pro may .be
more available for lessons
now too, although at some
-smaller clubs where the
pro plays a variety of
" roles, the fall can be hectic
.when student help returns
to school.
If you're thinking about
lessons, regardless of your
level of skill, then talk to
the pro and arrange for
some time- slots. Now is
the best time of the year to
play golf using. that new
technique and trying out
those professional tips.
The season is winding
down, the tournaments are
over except for scrambles,
and the score is not that
important any more. See. -
your local pro, get some
tips, and then practise
these on the; range or the
course in preparation for
next spring's new
beginning.
Enjoy. autumn golf.
There -are many excellent
facilities in Huron. County
so why not try some of the
area courses and extend
your season?
