after Florida. adventure
St. Columban
Happy Birthday to Patrick
Hcaman who turned two last
week. Patrick is the son of
Carl and Cheryl Heaman
who recently moved into St.
Columhan from St. Marys
and live in what was the
Mulholland residence. Carl
works at Parmalat in Mitchell
and Cheryl is interested in
looking after children in a
day-care setting. A very
warm St. Columban welcome
to the Heaman family.
Congratulations and best
wishes to Allan and
Mary Lou Murray
on the birth of their
daughter, Sarah
Christine. Sarah is
the haby sister of
Andrea, Alex,
Devin, Laura and
Robert.
Paul and Mary
Eisler, Tammy and
Jamie have returned
from a two-week
travelling vacation
to.Disney World in
Orlando, Florida. The family
enjoyed many sights along
the way including the
Mammoth Caves in
. Kentucky and Busch '
Gardens in Florida.' The -
weather was really hot down
there. The family.travelled
home along the coast taking
in all the sights and sounds
along the way. ,
' Jeanne (Melady) Fisk, and
her daughters, Sarah and
Rebecca Fisk, Nanaimo,
B.C., visited with her mother,
Frances Melady, and enjoyed
a family get-together, and a
trip to Niagara Falls while
they were here. Also
enjoying a visit with her
mother was Anne Melady
r and daughter. Vanessa •
Chapin, from Ottawa.
Ehzabeth'Klaver has been
enjoying the company of her
sister. Nei Wagemaker, and
niece. Lizzette and Cor
Sprugt, who are here on a
visit from Abbekirk,
Northern Holland.
Happy Birthday to Matt ,
and Martha Claessens who
celebrate on August 9 and 19
respectively. A special family
• celebration was held at the
home of their son. Frank and
Debbie Claessens, Jennifer,
Michelle and Matthew. in
Milton. Recent visitors with
Mati and Martha included
Matt's brother, Jef Claessens
from Ysselstyen, the
Netherlands; and Martha's
niece and family. Marianne
and Theo Smulders. Willem,
Jalla and Harriet from Horst,
The Netherlands. The
Smulders family will travel
across Canada visiting other
relatives including Matt and
Martha's son and family. Joe
and Cindy Claessens,
Andrew. Reilly and Mark in
Lethbridge, Alberta.
Visiting with family
members in the area were
Doug and Darcy Murray,
Shannon and Jordan, from
San Fernando, Trinidad.

Maddie Murray on the
occasion of their 50th
wedding anniversary.

Irl the Huron County rec
league. St. Columban men's
soccer team defeated Blyth
4-1 with the help of goals by
James Dick, Steve Wynja
and Mike Janmaat. This
season finale game saw the
St. Columhan team finish
first overall with eight wins,
two ties and no losses. Blyth
will be back in St. Columban
on Tuesday for a play-off
qualifying game.
Stacy and Kailyn Burke
have returned from a month-
long tour with the St. Marys
Children's Choir. The Choir
performed in Nova Scotia,
New Brunswick, Prince
Edward Island, Cape Breton
and Newfoundland.
Highlights included singing
with International Choirs and
"Men of the Deep" in
Newfoundland, and various
church choirs in Fredericton.
Part way through the tour,
they were joined by their
parents, Tom and Lynn
Burke, and brother, Devon.
The family spent some time
on their own touring the area.
The Burkes found the "down
east" people friendly and
easy going. They were r
welcomed with open arms
wherever they went. One of
the highlights for the Burke
family was a visit with Tom's
sister, Sharon and Doug
Dalrymple.
Parishioners of St.
Columban Parish are busy
preparing for Cemetery
Sunday. It will be held on
Aug. 29 at noon at St.
Columban Cemetery.
Everyone is invited•and bring
your own chairs. In case of
rain, Mass will be celebrated
in the church.

Following the 10:30
a.m. Mass on Aug. 15,
a huge crowd held a
delicious potluck
meal in St. Patrick's
Parish Hall,
welcoming Father
Maurice
Charbonneau
(Father Moe) with
St. Patrick's and St.
Vincent De Paul
participating.
During the
service, Father Moe
welcomed his
mother who was
attending, along
with his family and
other relatives and friends.
The CWL of both parishes
prepared and hosted this
meal.
Jean Ryan of Dublin
enjoyed a great get-tdgether-
with her sisters. The "Jordan"
sisters, Eileen, Jean and
Loreen got together at
Pauline Devereaux's place to
celebrate a special lady's
birthday, their sister, Mary!
There were pictures,
reminiscing and a lovely
dinner was served.

Legion
The "Eddie and the
Edsels" concert last
'Saturdays was very
successful and enjoyed by
the over 500 people in
attendance.
There were many
volunteers who helped set
up and take down the
facilities for this event and
who worked Saturday night. -
A new addition at the
Legion is a memorial
erected at the side of the
building in memory of
associate members.
A Sunday dinner for the
public will be held on
Sunday, September 26. Keep
this date in mind. It will end
Legion week which runs
from September 19. Watch
at the Branch for other
events for this week.

The Hensall and District Horticultural
Society held its annual flower show at
Hensall United Church on Aug. 11. There
were 27 exhibitors, and nine of these were
youth. Marlene Glavin, a new member that
day, won the most points, followed by Inge
Mowat and Ann Overweel.
