after being criticized by
Reeve Bob Broadfoot for
expressing opinions
against amalgamating with
Grey Township and
Brussels.
"I felt we had nothing in
common with Grey
Township and Brussels and
should look at other areas
if we needed more
municipalities to join with.
It was my own opinion,
even if council didn't
agree with me." says
DeJong.'
"I felt that I didn't need
the hassle from the reeve
and that I can't represent
the community if I can't
as
voice my opinion," he
says.
A supporter of
Tuckersmith
amalgamating with tIle six
municipalities including
Hensall, Zurich and
Stanley Township instead
of Seaforth and McKillop
Township, DeJong says
he's unhappy that the
southermost Tuckersmith
residents will have to
travel to Seaforth to its
municipal office.
Reeve Bob Broadfoot
said he doesn't want to be
quoted about DeJong's
resignation and comments.
