The students of the Lydia Lane School of Dance performed their recital for everyone's enjoyment. This group has been holding their lessons here all year so it was nice to see the results of all their hard work. The Northside Jr. Choir led by Audrey McLlwain performed an excellent musical show for the residents. We were happy also to welcome the UCW to hold their June meeting here. Dr. Woldnik exchanged his stethoscope for some barbecue tongs as he cooked hamburgers for a special Seaforth Manor Nursing Home Father's Day Barbecue and Pub Night held on our patio to honour alt our men prior to Father's Day. The Nursery School children were welcomed for their final visit before the summer break. Musical entertainment was provided by Bill Gipson. Paul the Fiddler and Marie Flynn and The Huron Strings. Worship services were conducted by Rev. Dino Salvador, Pastor Doug Corriveau, Rev. Nick Vandermey, Rev. Rob Hiscox and Rev. Ross Thomson. We were honoured to host our "Annual Pastoral Care Appreciation Luncheon" for all our clergy and volunteers and the vital role they play in the lives of our residents and staff. All their services and visits are very much appreciated. As well, we welcomed all our musical entertainers and program volunteers at our "Musical Entertainment Volunteer Luncheon". Administrator Lynne Lawson welcomed and thanked both groups on behalf of the management and staff and Pat Ryan expressed his appreciation on behalfof,all, the residents. We are looking, forward fu the following events planned to celebrate 1999 being the "International Year of the Older Person." On July 17.. the miniature horses will visit from 2:30 p.m. to 3:31) p.m. hollowed by our family barbecue from 4 -p.m. to 5 p.m. On Aug. 21 we will he hosting our first ever "Peach Jubilee" from 2 p.n1. to 4 p.m. Be sure to mark your calendars for Oct. 20 when "Salute ,to Seniors" will he held in Seatorth and District Community Centre, featuring a dinner at 6 p.m. and a program at 7 p.m. 'Plans are still developing for this exciting community event so watch the newspaper for more, details or call Cheryl Phillips at 527- 01)30. - Volunteer appreciation dinner honours supporters Church services for the month were led by Rev. Hiscox, Rev. Vandermey, Pastor Corriveau and Rev. Hauser. We enjoyed having those who helped with pastoral care stay for dinner with us. as these were the final services until September. Their dedication and care are greatly appreciated. Students of the Grade 13 Family Studies class arranged a Talent Show - for our residents. We enjoyed the clogging performed by the Huron - County Cloggers, singing by Cassie Hoegy. singing Maplewood Manor and piano numbers by Stephanie MacDonald and dancing by Amanda Denys and Kevin MacDonald. Starla Wick did a great job with the commentary. Residents were pleased to have musical - entertainment with Jim MacCallum, Marian Rose and Bill Gibson. A Volunteer Appreciation Dinnor was held to honour and thank all those who participate in our'activity program. Their thoughtfulness and dedication is greatly appreciated: Residents enjoyed the visit from -St. James kindergarten clas•who . came to sing many.of the songs they had learned. Gentlemen of 'Maplewohd enjoyed a Father's Day tour to honour their special day. We were ,ahle to travel by each of their homesteads where they lived for many years. Residents also took a , trip to the roadside zoo ;u the Nile where they enjoyed seeing the kangaroos and zebras. 'A trip to Millington' 5 in Brucefield marked the end of craft classes for the `season. • • Residents always look forward to bingo with Betty Hulley who comes every, week to.organizc this activity. 'The month ended .yith special barbecue for Canada Day at which time Minna Scott was honoured for her musical talents that she shares with us.
